Louis Posted June 14, 2024 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is posting pictures taken with IPhone and Leica Lux accepted in LUF? I hope a MOD could clarify this issue, once and for all, that I am sure many are wondering. .
Advertisement Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Hi Louis, Take a look here Leica Lux pictures in LUF?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LUF Admin Posted June 14, 2024 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2024 Good question, we have to make up our mind. For the moment: Only in dedicated threads, only clearly labelled. Andreas
FrozenInTime Posted June 14, 2024 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2024 Andreas, if you do decide to add another forum category for Leica collaborations, would it be possible to open one for Leica DG lenses sold by Panasonic ? There are many great under-represented lenses such as the 9, 12, 15 and 25mm Summiluxes for micro4/3. It would be great to see momentum building for a Leica makeover, similar to the D-Lux8, to a small mirrorless GX body.
farnz Posted June 14, 2024 Share #4 Posted June 14, 2024 If the pictures are made with non-Leica equipment and just the Lux app then allowing them would be opening the door to any picture from any camera as long as it was processed with Leica Lux app (how could you tell?) and, I think, it would destroy the delicate 'flavour' that the forum currently has and turn into a free-for-all. There are plenty of other websites that cater for that. It has been possible for years to make almost any picture taken with any camera and lens 'have the Leica look' using Photoshop or other post-processing software but they would not meet with the forum's posting rules. Simply because the photog processes a smartphone picture using an app with the Leica name on it shouldn't be grounds for allowing it. If members wish to post smartphone pictures on the forum then Xiaomi and Huawei smartphones that have built-in Leica cameras and lenses enable that. Pete.

I also believe that only pictures taken with “Leica” gear should be allowed to be posted in LUF; with the exception of LUMIX that we have longly discussed previously. Leica Lux is more like a filter; it doesn’t have neither the body nor the lens of Leica.

Nor do Panasonic cameras used with Sigma lenses…but their images are apparently OK because Leica designed the L lens mount 🤨 Edited June 14, 2024 by NigelG

There is a thread running in the Fotos/Lux sub-forum if anyone wants to have a look.

Okay, I must have misread the comments. it seemed like the subscription option can be used with PS or LR after pictures are downloaded from the phone but I might have misunderstood. andybarton Posted June 14, 2024 Share #9 Posted June 14, 2024 I can’t see where that’s possible. I’m still on the free trial as I can’t see any benefit over just using the iPhone. 1

I suppose you can, theoretically, take a picture with a Canon camera, import it on your phone, open it in the Leica app and apply the Leica presets? andybarton Posted June 15, 2024 Share #11 Posted June 15, 2024 No. I don't think it works like that. You can see every photo on your iPhone, but you can't do anything with them. You can't even do anything with the shots taken with the Leica software. The software only works when actually taking a photograph, not afterwards.
