Anthony MD Posted July 22, 2024 Author Share #64 Posted July 22, 2024 Just shot with the new Leica Summicron Rigid and compared with the Zeiss Planar 50mm f/2, the Rigid has a much nicer, buttery, detailed look without the excessive sharpness…! Taken weeks apart at the same location. At my end, looking at the screen with the RAW images, shows the Rigid buttery smooth and detailed whilst the Zeiss renders with excessive sharpness…! a.noctilux Posted July 23, 2024 Share #74 Posted July 23, 2024 Anthony, very good that you see in RAW images the differences. It's just the beginning of a journey in lenses discovery. Don't sell the Zeiss Planar too soon, I think that "excessive sharpness" which bother you now can (could) be the thing you need in future. After that you can explore if you want other lenses (not only 50mm but why not Summar, Summarit, Summilux, Noctilux and so many other brands). Or just take pictures happily with what you have.

Leica produces lenses according to their understanding how they shall perform. The Leica lens manufacturing according to Leica does require research and development above other manufacturers to achieve the Leica Look of a lens that can render a detailed image without the irritation of it being aggressively sharp…!
