david strachan Posted June 5, 2024 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2024 Mmm..quite fun with an attractive model. But perhaps the flash is a bit rude. Noone ever likes my tough crits...so ...carry on regardless. ...
hepcat Posted June 5, 2024 Share #3 Posted June 5, 2024 This one has a really nice "paparazzi" sort of vibe. I like it. 1

Noone ever likes my tough crits...so ...carry on regardless. ... Thanks a lot for your comments David! And of course your comment is not tough or below the belt. You are right, the power form the ringlight is a bit rude, but there are two reasons for it: 1.) I like this style a lot. It is a bit like in the 80ies with a direct light. 2.) (and this is maybe the true reason) In 99% I use daylight. If I do not have enough natural light in the studio, I use the ringlight. As a result I have a totally different style in comparison the the natural window light. To be honest, I have no clue at all with other flashlights, I tried it some years ago, but never reached the same mood in comparison to natural light and I did not like the work with multiple flashlights. To conclude, if you see a photo from me with a flashlight, you know that I had bad weather😄 vor 11 Stunden schrieb hepcat: This one has a really nice "paparazzi" sort of vibe. I like it. kkcsm Posted June 8, 2024 Share #8 Posted June 8, 2024 I think the lighting is even and nice. You can obviously see in the eyes that the flash is straight on, but it is not strident at all. Any post processing was tastefully done. Interesting but non distracting background. I think it’s a lovely image.
Nachtmsk Posted June 8, 2024 Share #9 Posted June 8, 2024 Very nice. Re: Flash - harsh flash can be a 'look' just like soft light can be 'look'. Particularly when a skilled photog is using is as a tool. Sometimes it doesn't work, but I think it works really well here.

I believe when one posts images on a public forum like this they should be willing to accept both good and bad comments about it. I've always found Marc very open to any comments without taking offense.

And in many cases the criticism helped to improve the photo or at least showed another point of view. And David‘s comment was not bad at all
