Can someone tell me what the difference between a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 VM II MC and a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 Aspherical II MC Lens?  I've been searching but can't seem to find anything that mentions VM vs Aspherical, is one design just older than the other?  I interested in this lens and see two that look exactly the same except for the VM and Aspherical.

The lens you're looking at is VM, which means it has the M mount. It also has two aspherical elements. The MC designation means the lens is multi-coated, which makes the lens more flare resistant and gives higher contrast.

The entire Vintage line of Voigtlander lenses are very well made and are excellent performers. Many are black paint on brass, but I don't know if the one you're looking at is. The best source for the Voigtlander line in the USA is Camera Quest in California.

If i’m not mistaken the version I in M mount, designated as Classic, is just a rehousing ot the same optical cell of the LTM version.

The Vintage Line, or version II, is a brand new optical design, performing better than the Classic.

Both of them, in Leica M mount, are now designated as VM.

If you’d like to see how they perform they are included and shown side to side in my comparison here:

And each on its own:

Hope this helps!
