Advertisement Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Hi Anbaric, Take a look here Elmar 50mm 2.8 lenscap?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted May 25, 2024 Share #22  Posted May 25, 2024 Put a UV filter on the front and don't bother with a lens cap. I mean it's not exactly expensive and the (protective) coating on a modern UV filter is probably better than that on your period Elmar front element.

But where I have to screw my yellow filter? In front of the UV filter or behind? Are stacking the two filters not too long that they darken the edges? You must be not only a flare lover but also a plastic lover though since this cap, which was sold with the Summilux 35/1.4 pre-asph in the past, is genuinly and vulgarily made of plastic 😄 Welcome, dear visitor! DreiPunkte Posted May 25, 2024 Author Share #27 Â Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) nothing to worry I liked your post. The 14268 looks like it is deeper than the normal caps. So the filter might dosen't bother. https://mwclassic.com/product/leica-42mm-hard-plastic-front-lens-cap-14268/ Edited May 25, 2024 by DreiPunkte

There is written "inner diameter", but who knows? It's so cheap, that you can buy both diameters, if you are buying online and just try. If you are interested, I bought generic silver leica front cap on ebay a few weeks ago and I have the same filter as you have. I can try in the evening how it works together and if it will not be loose, I will give you a link where I bought it.

If there aren't any instructions on the box I guess you could send the lens to Leica and ask them to swap if for you, but then you'd have the same problem if you wanted to change it back again. For anybody on the forum who is interested the 14268 cap is 9mm deep (internal) and it has an internal diameter of 42mm. Â

I think, because of the waiting time in Wetzlar, I will lookout for one of the 'Pro-Filter-Changing-Worshops' anounced in the WWW. So I will be fine for the future Edited May 26, 2024 by DreiPunkte

The outer diameter of your lens or filter needs to match the inner diameter of one of these push-on caps. I think an E39 filter (or a lens that takes one) will always have at least a 40mm outer diameter (according to one of the reviews, a 40mm Kaiser push-on cap fits a B+W E39 filter). But you might need 41mm or even 42mm (there are vintage Leica push-on caps for various older lenses with E39 threads that are 'A42'). My Hoya filter with a 43mm thread takes a 45mm push-on Kaiser cap.
DreiPunkte Posted May 26, 2024 Author Share #36 Â Posted May 26, 2024 I use these Helipan/Kaiser caps for my LF-lenses normaly I buy them 1mm bigger than the filter diameter. Â
