OP

I would insist on immediate resolve at Leica end and get you a camera to you tomorrow.

They took great care of me and gave me a discount so I'm a happy camper.  I'll get my camera next week.

I do ship a lot using UPS /FEDEX alot and usually there is no way shipment can get lost unless it's stolen by someone, but it does not make much sense say for a driver to steal the package as they are all scanned at various points. In those rare cases when package went missing, companies would open 'lost package' case and it would take 2-3-4 weeks, but they would find the package somewhere lying in the warehous where it was misaligned to different place etc. We do ship hundreds of thousand of Eur worth equipment (cinema lenses, etc) and not once it was lost without finding it later. As far as i remember, of probably 200-300 shipments only one or two were 'lost' and later found.

But anyways, Leica did what they had to do and they will sort it out with UPS, happy shooting!

I ordered my Leica lenses and cameras quite often from a Leica store in the South of Europa and never had an issue with UPS.
Always 24 hours delivery.
Often I ordered in the afternoon, the parcel was picked up in the late afternoon, and it was delivered around 11:00 at my address in Germany.

What I was wondering however was that the tape that was used to close the boxes said „Leica Store XXX“.
This is inviting thiefs to steal it.
Spoke to the boss of the store, but he told me that they never ever had a missing shipment.
I would however not use such a tape.

Good luck with the new camera or the one that is found back. In that case you have two? 🙂

I never realized UPS employees were Leica enthusiasts. They should be fired and have the police raid their homes to retrieve the stolen merchandise.

The latest UPS contract in the US is absurd. Soon the drivers will make USD100K/year. No wonder they over charge for every package.

With the U.S. dollar in the crapper and rampant inflation, $100k USD is now the "new" $50k.  😵‍💫

Somewhat similar, recently I purchased 2 hand made bracelet's from Neiman Marcus, they shipped individually. The first one arrived on the scheduled date, the second was ‘missing’ for a week. NM got involved, UPS responded within 24hours ‘found’ the package and it was delivered the next day..(UPS ignored all my emails).. 🍻

With yearly profits of $9 billion and CEO’s yearly salary of over $20 million, UPS can afford to pay their drivers well. In my neighborhood, they are hardworking and competent employees and I am receiving really a lot of UPS packages. Don’t get me started on DHL, though.

A while back I found out why UPS ignores the receiver. They only cater to the shipper, the one who pays them for shipping, and not a recipient.

So who's fault is this while we all suffer?

Corporate greed.

I am afraid that we are turning this thread into a political discussion. This forum and thread is not the right place for that.

The voters - elections come with consequences.

Elected offices are like computers: GIGO (garbage in, garbage out).

More likely one of the thousands of scanners in use ‘froze’ therefore rendering the package unreadable and so it was delegated to the ‘track later’ pile.. Well that’s what the guy on the Helpline said 😂

At least you get UPS etc.

Here in NZ if I order from the USA via UPS, FedEx and so on, they carry it to Auckland airport and then it gets given to NZ Post who are so slow I think they use pack ponies for delivery.

DHL used to bring it in, deliver it to customs, and then pick it backup and deliver! I hate if that has changed! PS I was stunned to see what an M11 costs down under now!

Yes they’re getting pretty expensive!

NZ Post won’t even deliver parcels to us now if our gate is closed. We pay the inflated rate for rural shipping, then get a card in the post box and a 50km round trip to collect our parcel from the depot.

DHL etc now deliver to customs and then NZ Post take over. I’ve never seen a branded international courier delivery here.

Yeah, I'm finally a pretty happy camper, now I need to learn how to use this thing.  Unfortunately my a7rv may be collecting a lot of dust, well not really, it's in a dry cabinet.  I have a Leica Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH coming and picked up this Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 Aspherical II MC Lens (Nickel) for a great price.  I'll be looking for a solid 35mm down the road but for now my x100VI will help with that need.  This will be my new lighter weight travel pack.
