My first snaps with M lenses on Sigma FPL

The Sigma FPL is a compact 61mp full frame digital camera with a sensor stack a bit thicker than that of the M11. Don't ask me by how much, i have no idea, but with the same lenses, i feel like i must do a bit more sharpening in PP.
• I did not try all my M lenses on the Sigma FPL yet but i did not see significant issues from 35mm to 135mm focal lengths so far.
• 21mm and 28mm focal lengths can be critical (vignetting and/or smearing) with some Leica (21/3.4 asph, 28/2.8 asph v1) and Zeiss (ZM 21/4.5) lenses but less so with Voigtlander's as far as my copies are concerned (VM 21/3.5, 21/4, 28/2 asph).
• No significant problem with Leica WATE (16-18-21/4) and MATE (28-35-50/4) as expected.
• Size wise, my favorite compact M lenses doing fine in crop mode on digital CL happen to work well in FF mode on FPL as well: Leica WATE, MATE, 35/2 v4, 35/2 asph v1, 35/2.5, 40/2, 50/2 v4, 50/2.8 v2, 75/2.5, 90/2.8 "thin", 90/4 macro, 135/3.4 apo, 135/4; VM 21/3.5, 21/4, 28/2 asph, 35/2 asph, 50/2.5, 90/2.8 apo; ZM 35/2.8, 50/1.5.
• Not yet checked Minolta lenses for CLE camera i.e. Rokkor 28/2.8, 40/2 & 90/4 on FPL but i don't expect any issue with them.

I have a soft spot for the fp. I know it has all sorts of downsides for stills but I bond with it somehow.

Let us know if you figure out how to manage the colors to your liking?

Poor man's raw i.e. converting jpeg files to tif and and working on tif files in P'shop. Not yet Foveon colors but not that far.

Interesting little camera. Doesn't compare with the M11 but i use it more or less the same way as a full frame CL I mean with M-mount lenses in the first place but also with L-mount ones and video if needed. I own only one L-mount lens TBH, a Sigma 18-50/2.8 you own as well if i remember well. EVF yes i'm the old generation of "telephone" users 😄

The FPL has no IBIS but EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization). Allows to shoot handheld at slow shutter speeds with no significant camera shake blur issues at full resolution. EIS is not implemented in the M11 i have no idea why. Would be an idea for the M12 if there is no room enough for IBIS in the body.

EIS doesn't work for stills i've been told by a good colleague here. The FPL makes less camera shake blur than the M11 with the same lenses but i did not try the M11 in electronic only mode TBH.

@lct Found this old thread as I was thinking about adding the fp-L to use with M lenses, as a light weight carry in addition to the M10-R, particularly the WATE and MATE, much appreciate the findings!

Have you found the evf to be a necessity? Particularly for landscapes outdoors?

For me yes because i use much manual focusing but you might feel differently if you rely on AF more so than i do.
