Hello, I'm just back from a trip where I spent about 10 days shooting (sporadically) with my M10 (28/2ASPH and 35 FLE - seldom).

Although I've been shooting M cameras off and on for a number of years now (film and digital), I've also dabbled in Sony and Fuji.

The M10 was the 'ultimate' one when I bought it but in practice I am finding it heavy to lug around and a bit big.

I have a love/hate relationship with Fuji kit and am sorely tempted by the x100vi - with potential sale of the M kit on the cards. That being said, I want to get an indication on what I'm about to be faced with in terms of image quality downgrade.

Is there anyone here who owns a similar M10 kit (28 cron/35 lux fle) and and x100vi who wouldn't mind sharing some static raws with both cameras at 200 and 1600 ISO, close and far distance? Happy to reward with some beer tokens for the time/trouble, but it's the kind of thing that I really want to get a better sense of within my LR environment before I go do something crazy like list my Leica kit - yikes!

@bonatto i have M10 with Leica and Zeiss lenses , i had x100V and sold it - x100 is an excellent camera, at the same time does not get close  to M10

I had (and still keep) a Fuji x100f. It’s good for beautiful pictorial files -because achieving sharpness is just beyond its reach- in good light. Otherwise it’s a basket of noise.

Not sure if the newer versions have improved it, though.

Get close as in what terms? Image quality, high iso, handling, or? So many variables.

for me it is one: the image - the photograph - the result

doesn't mean anything, take the same shot/locations/camera settings no auto ISO, no auto white balance etc etc and then compare.

you're using lightroom 6.14?

Thanks so far. I don't mind either manual or AF. In fact, the shooting experience is not really a factor here as I'm happy with either system.

I'm looking for some shots, taken of the exact same scene, with each one of the systems (specifically the new 40mp X100VI) and an M10 with either a 28 cron or 35 lux fee (or even a summarit) which I am familiar with.

I want to pixel peep and understand the 'global' differences between the two systems with equivalent scenes (cannot find anything online to that effect).

:)

Not much in dynamic range between them https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm#FujiFilm X100V,FujiFilm X100VI,FujiFilm X-T5,Leica M10,Leica M11

The X100VI and X-T5 do however not test as identical, which is a bit unexpected.

I never felt the need to test my M10, X-T5 and X100V against each other, as each camera gets used in different roles.

Cheers @FrozenInTime - appreciate it. Any chance I could trouble you for a couple of test photos of something stationary with the M10 and the 100v? There is a comparison on the preview comparison and the x100v feels quite soft

Thanks all so far. I'm particularly interested in detail/microcontrast/sharpness

I can't provide comparisons but I've tested the X100VI I find the IQ to be really quite poor. My Ricoh GRiiix is much better in terms of IQ.

Give me a few days for the weather to clear up and I will do.

I have both setups, including the 35 fle.. that stout little beauty.

As someone said in this thread, image quality is going to be subjective and rely on a lot of variables. However, the overall differences are not going to be difficult to suss out.

Leica / 35 fle - more dof, more apparent dof at similar distances, more lens options, a better overall experience.

Fuji - image quality is excellent, easier to carry around, easier to snap a pic and go, easier to get OOC jpegs, more options in camera for jpeg developing, hybrid viewfinder, good experience but not Leica experience.

I find that digital Leica is more about wanting to shoot the system instead of choosing it because it's the best option.

My advice would to get a smaller camera that you can take around, something small so you'll carry it no matter what, but fun so you will want to use it.... And keep the Leica gear.

The Fuji is good, but the GRiiix is a much better option if you can deal with the finicky focus in poor light.
