Plus the tool was always fooling out on the RRS. Personally L-brackets are the one photography accessory in whichI've always sought out a less expensive alternative anyway. I have always had good experiences with many, many lesser known brands. 6 weeks ago I "settled" on the one size fits all option from Pro Media Gear and it's just fine. Tool never falls out and despite not having dimples custom to any camera, the anti-twist material they've used has proven totally functional. Plus that is a company I have had incredible customer service from in the past, including sending me missing screws and even a different side bracket when I changed cameras, at NO cost! It's the kind of company I want to support. https://promediagear.com/collections/camera-l-brackets/products/plx3x-universal-l-bracket

Unfortunately RRS is not shipping to UK for order below $400,00 thanks to BREXIT and I don't need more than 1 plate, so I placed an order for Peipro. Let's hope is going to work 😀
FlashGordonPhotography Posted August 28, 2024 Share #48 Posted August 28, 2024 You can order RRS through B and H. Cheaper delivery too. Gordon
Photoworks Posted August 31, 2024 Share #49 Posted August 31, 2024 Peipro bracket for SL3 is nice, but when mounted vertically the mount is weak, is flexed, and moves. RRS is a stronger, solid mount.
lightsourcekauai Posted September 2, 2024 Share #50 Posted September 2, 2024 I was told by RRS recently that they currently have NO plans to make an L Plate for the SL3 + battery grip combo.

Negative side: Cost (?), storage of sd-card (really not negative, but I prefer other ways to store memory cards…), whatever may turn up after some use. Did you end up ordering? If so, what do you think? The website author, in an attempt for clarity, has really confused me about the compatibility of their bracket. On one hand it says they follow the Acra Swiss standard and therefore won’t comment on specific compatibility with clamp type brackets. They go on to show how RRS differs from Acra standard, then on the same page they say since RRS and Peak Design are so popular, they have modified their design to fit those brackets. So what is it? Acra Standard or RRS?

But I don't have one to check.

Acra Standard or RRS? Yes, I have been using this plate for quite some time. It's as light/thin as one can possibly imagine, still working fine. I use it on RRS heads, no problem except I do (quickly) check that the slot on the plate is correctly located as I tighten the RRS clamp.

As I’ve stated earlier in this thread I normally just use a universal l-bracket and that has always served me well but I find myself constantly removing it to shoot “normally” because it’s so thick. Combine that with the fact that I’d love another 5mm in grip height without much added weight and it seems like the perfect solution for me. I think I’ll pull the trigger. Thanks for the quick response.
