federicochiesa Posted March 25, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted March 25, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone! I just got a beautiful SL3, and while I am enjoying the camera ( I switched from a Sony A7rV ), I have an issue with the sliding CF door. Most of the time it won't open easily, and feel very uneasy to operate. The only way would be use the finger nail to grip on the button ( which doesn't seem to move at all) and slide. B?ut this already started to ruin the leather around it. Of course I can live with that but I am curious if this is just my issue or maybe is something that happens to other people too. I work in media video production so I have quita of an experience with cameras, this seems a little off. Â Thanks for any help! Â Ciao
Advertisement Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 Hi federicochiesa, Take a look here Issue with SL3 CF door, curious about other people experiences. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ken Abrahams Posted March 25, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted March 25, 2024 I have only briefly handled the SL 3 however in the other three models, the action to open the door is to push across with you thumb. Some downward pressure helps. The SL 3 door is a bit different but I don't think using fingernails is good. It may be a little stiff at first but monitor the situation and you may want to get it fixed. Â Â
SrMi Posted March 25, 2024 Share #3  Posted March 25, 2024 I find SL2’s card door easier to open, but got quickly used to SL3’s new door.
Carrot Posted March 25, 2024 Share #4 Â Posted March 25, 2024 Same here, SL2-S door opens cleanly, SL3 door has an almost double-click to open.
rouge_homme Posted March 25, 2024 Share #5 Â Posted March 25, 2024 Agree, never had any issues with my SL2 door but the SL3 seems to require a more forceful press before it opens (and feels a little brittle to me).
federicochiesa Posted March 25, 2024 Author Share #6 Â Posted March 25, 2024 Ok then I guess is a weird design choice. Leica assistance told be the "button" has no function except adding more grip. Hopefully will get a little more easy to open with use..
Geoff C. Bassett Posted March 25, 2024 Share #7 Â Posted March 25, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also noticed it had more flex when I handled it in store.
MediaFotografie Posted March 25, 2024 Share #8 Â Posted March 25, 2024 (edited) I don't see much differences between door opening SL3/SL2(s) (feels nearly the same); I'm thinking it's absolut normal when regarding the age of my Sl2 models and how often I obend the door Edited March 25, 2024 by MediaFotografie
Photoworks Posted March 26, 2024 Share #9 Â Posted March 26, 2024 the bump is a little different between SL2 and SL3, same functionality. Push down and slide.
Yellow_78 Posted April 23, 2024 Share #10 Â Posted April 23, 2024 I just recieved mine two days ago and am also finding the same issue. Very stiff to open! I can't open it unless I also use my finger nail when the gap appears from trying to slide the door open. My Previous SL2 and SL2s was no problem. I'll enquire with my local Leica dealer asap. SrMi Posted April 23, 2024 Share #11 Â Posted April 23, 2024 After a while (not using SL2 in the meantime), I no longer notice the difference.
