MrFriendly Posted August 24, 2024 Share #61  Posted August 24, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wth all the improvements made to SL3 in regards to video, I don't see the point of SL3-S. I do think and wish that SL3 Monochrom is on its way. With the same sensor in multiple bodies (SL3, SL3 Monochrom, M11, M11 Monochrom) we minimize cost while maximizing performance. Advertisement Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Hi MrFriendly, Take a look here SL3-P without video and / or SL3-P monochrome. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ken Abrahams Posted August 24, 2024 Share #62 Â Posted August 24, 2024 SL3 Mono would be great and if they left the video function in I would seriously catch up with my video editing skills (or lack of them). Hang on doesn't the Q Mono do video? Â Â

What improvements? It's a downgrade compared to a SL2-S. The sensor readout speed is a non-starter.
jaapv Posted August 24, 2024 Share #64  Posted August 24, 2024 I strongly suspect that the SL3S will have the sensor that they codeveloped with Panasonic.

I would assume that the toppings of an SL3-S would be different than a Panasonic sensor, while the underlying sensor hardware would be the standard Sony or whoever manufactures the sensor, but that is only speculation from my side. I assume that S5 and S5 II have the same sensor, except that S5 II has OSPDAF added.
jaapv Posted August 24, 2024 Share #68  Posted August 24, 2024 It was mentioned in various reviews. FWIIW.

They added time code, which says to me "here is a hybrid camera that's good enough for video that it needs a time code interface". I wouldn't call that a non-starter. If a hybrid camera released in 2024 is a non-starter for video projects, then one probably needs, you know, an actual video camera. Every mode crops into the sensor except 1080p, the Rolling Shutter is horrific in any mode except 1080p. No one would buy this camera for video. The SL2 has better video specs.

If they only had a balanced audio adapter, I suppose we would have to wait many more years for that.
