In an interview from the day of the release of the SL3, one Leica employee “by the way” mentioned that there will be a compact travel camera being in the pipeline of Leica in the pipeline “for people who don’t want to carry so much”. He said “maybe” and that he couldn’t say more about it - but it would be “soon”.

Now having in mind that we already have a Q, I suppose that either it will be a full-frame even more compact (which makes only sense with a smaller - less open - lens, but then still would be too similar to the Q in order to make sense) or with a smaller sensor size -> back to APS-C? - who knows?

attached the video, the statement is about 5 minutes before the end (in German).

...will that be anonther new labelled Panasonic?

I had the D-Lux 6 years before - an was not impressed.

The X-Vario is a pure Leica Camera.

Good question ... A new X-variant would be nice, especially since there is a huge demand for small compact cameras with high build quality like the fuji x100vi.

I had the D Lux 7 and was highly impressed with it (until I drenched it in a sudden downpour and it stopped working).

I do agree about the X-Vario.  Superb little camera.

My D-Lux 7 doesn't get used often now, but I have used it a few times as a travel camera, and my wife still has her LX100.

I'm probably not in the market to update to a new compact travel camera - if it's a new X, it won't displace my Q3; if it's a new X-vario, it won't displace my CL; and if it's a D-Lux 8, it'd need to be a big upgrade.

The whole point of Leica, snce its beginning, is about compact.
I definitely want a zoom, to complement Qx (FF) or X 113 (APS-C). wish it is QV. It must cover 28~90mm (equivalent), but for marketing sake, it could be 24-90mm (EQ).  F2.0 or faster. Weather sealed. Waist level shootable.
No, not M43, not smaller than APS-C.

90mm - f/2 - compact? Choose 2 from 3!

I love the M but the X cameras are perfect for travel and lots else. Bring back the X!

Cannot agree more.

For the sake of marketing, I don’t mind to boost MP. But a faster zoom ( if it is XV2) and/or 18mm (to complement X113) would be very appreciated.
