Christianjwagner Posted March 17, 2024 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) In an interview from the day of the release of the SL3, one Leica employee “by the way” mentioned that there will be a compact travel camera being in the pipeline of Leica in the pipeline “for people who don’t want to carry so much”. He said “maybe” and that he couldn’t say more about it - but it would be “soon”. Now having in mind that we already have a Q, I suppose that either it will be a full-frame even more compact (which makes only sense with a smaller - less open - lens, but then still would be too similar to the Q in order to make sense) or with a smaller sensor size -> back to APS-C? - who knows? attached the video, the statement is about 5 minutes before the end (in German). Ray Vonn Posted March 17, 2024 Share #5 Posted March 17, 2024 FF CL? Interesting times to see that alongside the ZF for sale.
fotografr Posted March 17, 2024 Share #6 Posted March 17, 2024 I would love that. Even something like a D-Lux 8 would be well received. Yesterday I spent some time going through the D-Lux 7 Images thread and was very impressed with the photos posted there.

Bixxi Posted March 21, 2024 Share #9 Posted March 21, 2024 Maybe the new compact camera for travelling is a new Leica D-Lux 8. https://leicarumors.com/2024/03/19/the-leica-d-lux-8-will-not-have-an-aps-c-sensor-and-a-fixed-prime-lens-obviously.aspx/

I had the D-Lux 6 years before - an was not impressed. The X-Vario is a pure Leica Camera. Best, Jens

A new X-variant would be nice, especially since there is a huge demand for small compact cameras with high build quality like the fuji x100vi. Best, Jens I had the D Lux 7 and was highly impressed with it (until I drenched it in a sudden downpour and it stopped working). I do agree about the X-Vario. Superb little camera. AdHox Posted April 2, 2024 Share #13 Posted April 2, 2024 My D-Lux 7 doesn't get used often now, but I have used it a few times as a travel camera, and my wife still has her LX100. I'm probably not in the market to update to a new compact travel camera - if it's a new X, it won't displace my Q3; if it's a new X-vario, it won't displace my CL; and if it's a D-Lux 8, it'd need to be a big upgrade. Einst_Stein Posted April 10, 2024 Share #14 Posted April 10, 2024 The whole point of Leica, snce its beginning, is about compact. I definitely want a zoom, to complement Qx (FF) or X 113 (APS-C). wish it is QV. It must cover 28~90mm (equivalent), but for marketing sake, it could be 24-90mm (EQ). F2.0 or faster. Weather sealed. Waist level shootable. No, not M43, not smaller than APS-C.

NZDavid Posted April 13, 2024 Share #16 Posted April 13, 2024 I love the M but the X cameras are perfect for travel and lots else. Bring back the X! 4

Cannot agree more. For the sake of marketing, I don’t mind to boost MP. But a faster zoom ( if it is XV2) and/or 18mm (to complement X113) would be very appreciated. NZDavid Posted April 14, 2024 Share #18 Posted April 14, 2024 More speculation here. Could be anything, but some new model seems to definitely be in the works. https://www.techradar.com/cameras/compact-cameras/leica-could-soon-launch-a-compact-travel-camera-we-can-actually-afford
