New Jersey tested it and the lens needs to go to the Leica factory in Germany. No. The issue persists from f/2.0 to f/2.8 and at all distances. However, close subjects/areas of focus, which are near to the camera, are merely soft. Whereas distant subjects/areas of focus are blurry. By f/5.6 the lens seems to have corrected itself and usable images can had at f5.6 and further down.
