Due to known issues with freezing and corrupted files, I stopped using direct shooting with SD cards and started using the internal memory on the M11. This approach allowed me to slightly increase reliability, although it did not completely eliminate the problem described above. But since the internal memory is only 64GB, this is not enough for me. It would seem that there is a solution to this problem - when the internal memory is full, using the built-in function, we copy files from it to a large SD card, followed by formatting the internal memory, and so on as needed until the SD card is full, then we change the card to another.
But even here an unpleasant discovery awaited me: a similar action cannot be performed twice, the camera gives an error of duplicating file names and refuses to copy, although the built-in memory was formatted after a previous copy and there are no coincidences in file names, which is easy to check if you connect the camera to a computer and look at the names files on both media

Moreover, I have encountered such a case more than once. The first case I attributed to my carelessness, but the second time I checked all the file names very carefully, I did not find any matching names

It is not possible to copy to an SD card if there is any other file on it. This applies not only to image files, but also to firmware or the user profile backup file, for example. Leica knows this, we already criticised it during the beta phase of the camera. Leica has never explained why this has not been changed.

Then using the internal memory and the copy function does not provide any benefit in combating the main problem🥲

I'll have to buy an SL3 to continue using M lenses😂

The whole camera world is in 2024 but Leica's M11 is still in 2014.

If it worked properly, it would be the best camera in the world. The design and concept are great

Definitely agree, if the M12 is a 60MP version of the M10 with the improvements of the M11 (60mp, USB-C, battery, GPS) plus an option to toggle between the original and new style of metering plus IBIS then it would be ideal. oh, and none of the crashes/lockups of course....

I still believe that the problem is of a software nature (weak code, many signs pointing to this), so there is no reason to believe that the M12 will be better, especially if they add IBIS, which will complicate the program code. We can, of course, hope that a new, more powerful processor will be better able to handle poorly optimized code and the problems will disappear or become rare

That would be a great way for Leica to commit corporate seppuku.

Let's hope they are smarter than to stubbornly insist that there's nothing wrong with the M11 and to move its defective software code forward to the M12.

And maybe we even can get an eye sensor so the LCD screen turns off and do not burn your cheek when using the rangefinder? Oh maybe not, it is only 2027 I guess.... ;)

Most mirrorless cameras I've owned - Canon R3, R5 and Fuji GFX 100S have had glitches/crashes of one kind or another. Forums are full of stories like this.

I don't remember any major problems with the R5

Just tried to do what you suggest. The camera asked me to empty the SD card, then i formatted the card and the copy worked perfectly. Detail below.

Menu page 4: Storage Management > Backup Memory (IN => SD) > Copy All > "Do you want to copy all data from IN to SD?"  > Yes > "Copy not possible [...] Please empty card" > Format SD Card > Same as above > No problem.

Particularly strange are the bugs that were identified at the beta test stage and were not fixed 2 years after the camera was released.

Yes, fully agree; prior to launch I believe that major/fatal bugs should be prioritized, and addressed by priority and impact to the end user. If some of beta bugs still existed at launch it would make sense (at least a good will gesture) to document those in a readme and be transparent about it (we can accept that and some of us can even help debug it). Shipping a common known fatal bug (lockups) would be an all stop on launch for me, and if the lock-ups were introduced in a firmware update, it would become a pri 0 bug to address asap and drop another FW update to address.

The idea was to transfer files from the internal memory to a larger card in several portions as the internal memory fills up, rather than copying them to a blank card. This turned out to be impossible due to a bug

I think this illustrates well what i wrote in this post. When my car asks me to do something, i follow its instructions and it works. Here my camera asks me to empty my card, i follow its instructions and i works as well.

The internal memory is only 64Gb, which is not enough. There are still images on the card from the previous copy and enough space for a second copy. What's stopping me from making a second copy? A bug is bothering me, according to which there is a conflict in file names, but this is a lie, there are no identical files in this case.

In your linked post, you accuse the user of intentionally finding bugs.

Firstly, the user has the right to expect from the camera that it will work as stated by the manufacturer;

Secondly, I was not looking for this bug intentionally, I was just looking for a way to continue using my camera and not depend on freezes and corrupted files that often occur when shooting directly to SD card
