I would guess the Leica stores get monthly allocations.

I bought today a second body from the UK online store, as their new monthly allocation has just arrived. They sold out quickly but were available in the morning.

Congrats!  I do have friends in the U.K. and do some work there so i have been checking there but must have just missed it today.  The difficult bit for me is the exchange rate plus VAT.  Exchange rate on it's own is fine as prices work out to be about the same but VAT takes it well over US pricing.

A friend of mine pre-ordered an SL3 in-person less than a month ago at the NYC Leica Meatpacking boutique and they called to say that it was now in. The SL3’s are certainly out there and as presumed… the boutiques seem to get a favorable allocation and reduced wait times.

That’s where I got mine a few weeks ago after getting on the wait list a month ago.

Hi everyone! It took me 3 days from looking for an SL3 to now getting a call that one is available for me. I had the same experience with the M11 when it first came out. I don't go to any large retailers. They are dealing with hundreds of people on their wait lists. I called every Leica store in the U.S. and put my name on the wait list. That was 3 days ago from writing this. I just got a call from Leica Los Angeles. They have one for me to pick up tomorrow. Amazingly enough they are close enough to drive to as I'm in San Diego. I had to have the M11 shipped from NYC. The main takeaway is, Leica stores are the way to go.

That is an amazing.  I did the same thing in late March but I think the only store I did not call was L.A. thinking it was probably crazy busy.  I still haven't heard anything from any other.  I have no choice but to order as I am in S.E. US.  Closest store is Miami but all are a flight away.

I’m based in Dublin, Ireland and we don’t have any Leica stores. One or two local camera stores said they could try and source an SL3 but never mentioned how or where they’d get it. Wex have a store in Belfast but UK prices plus Irish Vat and customs aren’t great. Plus I’d have to drive up there. The official Leica online stores in Europe only deliver in their own countries or regions. Got a Q3 via the Leica Store Amsterdam last year after being on the waitlist for a bit. And they deliver EU wide. The SL3 I was able to get from Fnac, a French book, media and electronics retailer. Seems like they have quite a few in in store (continuously) and also deliver EU wide (maybe even worldwide). In short, I couldn’t believe that a French retailer was pretty much my only option and that they actually have them in stock. I think Conn’s Cameras in Dublin used to stock Leica some years back, but now, if you’re in Ireland, it’s not easy to get your hands on Leica cameras.

Fnac has 987 physical store locations. My guess is that they were allocated quite a few SL3 cameras in the initial shipment.

It could also be that that’s where all those YouTube reviewer cameras are ending up. 😂

That makes sense! And even with all their stores, when I ordered mine, they had "only" four available on their website. But now it just says "in stock". Either way, it helped me get one. Sometimes you have to go through many European websites to get Leica in Ireland.

Didn't even see other SL3 YouTube  reviews other than the ones resulting from the influencer event in Wetzlar.

Was just contacted by Leica Store New York - they got their latest SL3 shipment in today and I've now got one on the way!

Interestingly, I've been on B&H waitlist since early March, and was added to my local Leica store waitlist mid-March.  I called all the other Leica stores around the US, including the NY store, to be added to their respective lists only about a week ago, so very happily surprised that the NY store already had availability.

Anywho, the latest batch of SL3's have landed!

yes, they are coming in slow, they only got a few.

The local Leica Store called me today saying that I could come in and pick up an SL3. I've been on their waitlist since mid-March. Alas I got my SL3 already 3 weeks ago from an independent Leica dealer.

I've been checking the online Leica store a few times a week, and sure enough one day last week the SL3 was in stock - I placed an order and it's with UPS now, should have it early next week. Looks like the shipments are coming in.

Got mine on friday 26th from the Leica Store Stuttgart... Need it for my next tip in may (birding) and told that to the Store - two weeks later I got my SL3 and I´m happy!

First shots with SL3 are encouraging, I´ll keep my SL2 as "second body" and enjoy the better AF performance of the SL3 with "animal detection" in beta mode.
