M10 focus peeking without magnification

It' s peAking because the false contrast shows you approximate areas of peak sharpness.
The answer to your question is buried in page 166 of the M10 instruction manual. In short: it says that for peaking the "trimming" (magnification) of the image must occur first.

I’d be fine with magnification if I could reduce the amount. For me as it is the magnification is so extreme that I have trouble understanding what I’m looking at.
