Thank you to everyone who took part in last month's 184th Barnack's Monthly theme, which was filled with more than 1,300 pictures, excellent ideas and interpretations of the theme.   Also, thank you to everyone who helped to make it another successful month by generously posting their pictures and in particular to those people who posted for the first time - I hope you found it an interesting and rewarding experience and I hope it encourages you to share more of your pictures with us!

Thank you all so much for contributing by very kindly sharing your photos because it's you who keep Barnack's Monthly going.  Without your pictures there could be no Barnack's Monthly.

The 185th Barnack's Monthly theme, for February 2024, is:

 Flag.

This month's theme is any picture that contains a flag or "flag" as a written word and please name the flag(s)Please be aware that some flags can be offensive so, for example, do not post a picture of a flag containing a Nazi swastika and please seek a Moderator's guidance before posting a picture containing a flag that might be contentious.  Please bear in mind conflicts in Ukraine and the middle east; this will lessen the chances of your picture being removed by a Moderator.

For example, it could be a Union Flag (aka "Union Jack") flying over Buckingham Palace, a Tricolour flying over L'Arc de Triomphe, a flag on a birthday cake, a string of flags celebrating a National day, a, Ensign flag aboard a ship, a flag on an aircraft tail, a flag on goods to show where they were made, a huge Saltire (flag of Scotland) at Murrayfield during the Calcutta Cup, a flag projected onto a building at night, national flags flown on election days, a pennant at a Grid-Iron game - it's entirely your choice so let your imagination run free!

It would be a big help if you give your picture a title to help us understand your point of view. Members have asked if we'd very kindly name the camera and lens used because it's interesting to know.

The rules are deliberately loose so go out and shoot with this month's theme in mind or start searching back through those pictures you took oh-so long ago that you'd forgotten about and start posting! It doesn't have to be your best ever shot and it's not a competition so you might surprise the rest of us and yourself - it's just about sharing some pictures, seeing others' take on the topic, and enjoying it!

Everybody's welcome to contribute, any interpretation, any number of posts (but to avoid swamping the thread would you very kindly please post no more than ten pictures at a time), pictures that have been posted on the forum before are fine, and any equipment as long as it complies with the forum's rules (either camera or lens or both made by Leica or the Leica-Sigma-Panasonic "L-Mount" Partnership). Please post freely - especially newcomers and please remember there's no judging or criticism (good or bad) in this threadSo, if you'd like to show your acknowledgement or appreciation that someone has posted their picture then instead of posting a comment please use the "Thanks" button that you can find at the bottom right of every post.

Please post away and I look forward to seeing your interesting interpretations of this month's theme.

Note: Moderator Pop has very kindly assembled links to all of the past Barnack's Monthly threads as a single archive that can be found here: Barnack's Monthly Index.  Thank you, Pop!

Pete.
