M.Hilo Posted January 24 Share #2 Posted January 24 (edited) That's really very beautiful ! And a great find. Can you take some more pictures, like also from the front - open and closed? Am I correct to understand a magnetic field is switched on, pulling the two blades onto the paper? Making it lay flat. The red oil lubrication holes and the black crackle paint are totally similar to the same in the parallelograms of the Focomat enlargers. Smart too, as the smaller sizes double weight enlarging papers curled a lot Do you know if Leitz made this for larger sizes too? It has a complex system by which it automatically ejects the sheet and opens the marginator. Welcome, dear visitor! M.Hilo Posted January 25 Share #4 Posted January 25 (edited) Thanks, I had understood it all wrong. Leitz designed various easels. 2 and 4 bladed. Some are very simple to use, others a little more complicated. Yours is for sure more complicated and I wonder if it was designed for a workstation called Leitz Focomator? The design and its functions imply a certain need for rapid printing in high volumes. The part you must push down to activate the action of opening the easel and eject the sheet of paper: is that made of bakelite? To use this was unusual for Leitz. And, the electric function, is that only to bring up the hinging part that presses down the paper. Perhaps one day, you could so a small movie of this easel opening up.
