Thanks. I just placed an order to test it with my 50 Summicron which I love but has no tab...

24Lux has been my personal favor for M body.  Some people who hated it, keep hating it but nothing is wrong - it's just personal preference.  If you find it fit your needs, it's yours.

“Favorite” but not “favor” that’s embarrassing… love and hate the keyboard predictive words.

Maybe anyone owning both the 24 and 28mm Luxes could post some comparison, shooting the same scene with both lenses?

24 Elmarit + Summilux or 24 Elmar + Summilux?
Sell your Zeiss and buy an Elmarit 2.8. That would be my first step.

Is it size, rendering, 1.4 you need/want? This is a combinatorial nightmare..

I would go for sell all and get 24lux  and 50 luxII, ... no looking back, no lens picking stress and time to produce great images.

I was going to mention the 7artisans focusing tabs but it looks like @newtoleica beat me to it. They work wonderfully. I've installed them on a 24mm lux and the Zeiss 35mm f1.4 zm.

The 24lux has some magic to it that the 24mm Elmar lacks, but the trade off is the 24 Elmar performs better stopped down. I think it comes down to what your primary subject matter is when you use the 24mm focal length. If you gravitate towards landscape or architecture then I'd say stick with the Elmar as it has a flatter plane of focus and is much lighter.

I sold my 24lux about a year ago and do regret doing so. I now have a 24 Elmar because I've missed the 24mm focal length; however, I do really miss the rendering and subject separation of the 24lux at f1.4 - f2. If I were in your shoes I'd sell the 28lux, especially since the recently release Voigtlander 28mm f1.5 stacks up so well against it.

24lux will be used mostly for indoor low light pictures when there is not much room to step back... So no landscape. I have the 28 Emlarit, 24 Elmar and 21 SEM for that purpose and I think the 24 Elmar will have to go, keeping the 28 and 21 does make sense even if I have to admit that I really love the 24mm field of view.

I have the summilux 28mm and like it very much as a stand alone all purpose lens. But when I use the 50mm I find myself taking the Elmar 24mm f/3.8 as a wide angle alternative more and more often. I somehow find that 24 + 50 complete each other rather well. I also have and use the combination of Summircon 50mm + Zeiss 25mm f/2.8. So I am wondering if I should get the Lux 24mm and sell the Lux 28 and Elmar 24mm... And then I do have a Q2 to cover the 28mm as a stand alone all purpose lens...

What are your thoughts?

Do you miss f1.4 when using your SEM?

I own 50 and 28 Lux and 21 SEM - I don't miss f1.4 for my 21mm lens.

Just sell the Elmar 24mm. Then you have the 25mm Zeiss, keep the 28mm and you have the 50mm. The Q2 is a different shooting experience.

That 24 Elmar is a wonderful lens. Great size and incredibly sharp. I use that as my primary lens and switch to the 28 lux for indoors, night, or shallow dof street portraits, etc. If you like 24, the Elmar is the best value for great M glass. I also adapt it to my CL digital, giving me a 36mm option.

I had a 24mm lens once. It's my most hated focal length of all time by far and away. That being said if someone puts a gun to my head and threatens to kill me and my children if I don't pick, then I would pick a 28 lux because I think it is the smallest and lighter one of those two. If it's redundant because you have your Q then keep the Elmar and forget everything else because it is smaller still. I hate big heavy lenses on the M with a passion.
