Advertisement Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Hi jdlaing, Take a look here New Leica Q3. Am I being nitpicky?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bobtodrick Posted December 10, 2023 Share #42 Posted December 10, 2023 Well, it appears that if all of us sent our cameras back for this ‘problem’, at least 1/2 of us would have done so. I think Leica’s reasoning for not using a hard setting glue goes back to their film days. Some of the film cameras had a rangefinder adjustment screw under the red dot…it was meant to be easily removed for access to that screw.

colonel Posted December 12, 2023 Share #46 Posted December 12, 2023 I tend to always buy 3 new Leicas instead of 1. I then just work with the one where the red dot is lined up. The rest go on ebay 1
junix Posted December 12, 2023 Share #47 Posted December 12, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the Q3 the logo is tilted because of the tilting screen, other Leica products should be fine for the time being. Jokes aside, have fun with your new toy, the camera is splendid so you shouldn’t be bothered by a very slightly misaligned logo that was glued to the camera by hand. The Q3 will surely rekindle your joy of photography!

I know these are hand assembled, but for a $9k CAD camera, you’d think there would be a bit better attention to detail. Anyone else have this cosmetic issue on their Q3? interesting, I never thought to look when I got my camera nor having used it months since. I just looked at it. the right side of the Leica logo is ever so slightly tilted downward, I'm fine with it.
everbong Posted December 12, 2023 Author Share #49 Posted December 12, 2023 In lieu of starting a new thread: what’s the ring in the box for? I was able to thread a 49mm filter on the front and the hood over it, not sure what the one included is for? A pinch cap?

Some people don't like using the hood and the ring is included to protect those external threads should you choose to go hoodless. I stored mine away in the box...along with the included metal lens cap that I didn't want to lose.
