Are we saying that a discount at Christmas won’t increase sales a lot in a period when the camera has got over its initial hype? I don’t think Leica are stupid, they know how to use a calculator.

I really wonder why companies bother with this sort of requirement. They must get a lot of junk that could cost more to get rid of than it's worth. To get money off a Gitzo I once traded in the sort of tripod you can get for under £10 on ebay, which I had to box up and post somewhere to get the rebate. I didn't even have to buy it - my Gitzo dealer had a stock of them they bundled free on request with orders so customers had something to send in.
