And Balanced Rock.  I've not more non-Leica ones I think might be good, but can't show them here.

I've sometimes wondered about this when images are bigger than the screen. But the instructions for posting in the various photo forums always say the same thing:

"Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended)"

The 875 pixels recommendation would seem to be a huge change from the instructions. When I follow the forum recommendation, the shortest side comes out in the range of 1800 pixels.

Several years ago I posted a vertical that was sized too large to fit the screen. It was one of the moderators (still a moderator here) who instructed me to set the dimension of vertical images to 875 pixels on the long side. I've done it ever since.

The sizing instructions have been amended since you found the quote above. It now reads,

" Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set). Obviously vertical images, in order to be viewed comfortably, should be a smaller size."

I don’t mind the larger size, most of my images are landscape. The bigger portrait image at 2480 is very impactful specially with portraiture. One click on the larger image and everything can be seen.
