douglas fry Posted October 27, 2023 Share #41 Posted October 27, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) My experience today wasnt great but maybe a lesson learnt. My SD card was still in the camera from yesterday's shoot, I had already downloaded them and easily viewable on the back of the camera. I updated the firmware carried on with todays shoot and all fine, nothing to report. Then I had an error pop up 'SD Card error' and only the shot I had just taken was visible 1/1 available, all the other images I had taken post update were gone too. I plugged the SD card into my laptop and all images were there past and present, a relief. I backed up the laptop images and formatted the SD card in camera and started that phase of the shoot again. and all fine for the rest of the shoot. Basically then if you updated your M11, format your SD card in camera. Or even better format your card in SD Card Formatter (https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/) for a thorough cleansing and check of the card then put it back in the camera. 2

hoolyproductions Posted October 27, 2023 Share #42 Posted October 27, 2023 I updated just now, wirelessly via Leica Fotos. A couple of small things I noticed: I forgot to save my user profiles first to an SD card, and there was no prompt (as usually) when initiating the firmware to ask me if I wanted to save them before proceeding. Worked out fine though, my profiles were still there after the update There was previously a setting in "Customize Control" to turn the two LED lights (bottom of camera and rear of camera next to screen) on or off. In the previous firmware I had set the rear LED to "off" (I don't like the red light flashing when I am shooting in low light, distracts me) but it was still blinking when I took a picture or formatted the card. With the firmware update this actually works now. I still get the red light when turning the camera on, but not when shooting.

Oh, and does anyone know what this means? In the previous firmware I could already turn live view on or off using the first menu touch screen, so this must be something else? (edit) nevermind, I see it is under Customize Control: Touch mode and gives an extra option for touchscreen behaviour. Is this a new feature in 2.0.1? The custom function buttons can now be programmed with a "Centre Frame" option that resets the LV cursor back to centre screen. Thanks or posting! Kim Dahl Posted October 27, 2023 Share #48 Posted October 27, 2023 "Enable password protection" Enable password protection in the camera's Wi_Fi settings to establish a connection to your Leica" ? This is how the iPhone writes and then I can no longer connect the iPhone and Leica M11 together? I can't see anywhere in Leica's menu that I can do anything. And I had no problems until I updated to the new firmware. As I did through the photo app. Anyone know what needs to be done?

This might help: Try "Forget This Device" feature on the iPhone Bluetooth menu. Forget the M11 on the iPhone Bluetooth menu, power off the M11 take out the battery/reinsert the battery and then try again. * You may also have to delete the Fotos app on the iPhone and reinstall the app too. Yeah I had this you have to remove the phone from the camera in the fotos menu then go both into bluetooth and wifi on you phone and remove the camera there you can add a fresh no one else seems to have complained so maybe its a fairly rare issue Edited October 27, 2023 by MattMaber

sdk Posted October 27, 2023 Share #52 Posted October 27, 2023 Just update my M11 via SD card with no issues. I followed the very specific instructions in the PDF of release notes, including formatting the card you use before putting the update on it, using a UHS-II SD card, and after the update finishes, turning off the camera and removing and reformatting the SD card on a computer before using the camera again. That last instruction is new from previous firmware updates. Exact wording in the English version: "Attention: The SD card must be removed from the camera after the update and before the restart. Use a computer to format the SD card before reinserting it into the camera."

sdk Posted October 27, 2023 Share #54 Posted October 27, 2023 OK, I did have some trouble with the computer formatted SDXC Card not being liked by my M11, and it would not even reformat properly in the camera, and was only writing files to the M11 internal memory. So I had to clone another LEICA M formatted SD card to it to get the camera to be able to write to it and reformat it. This may be because I use a Mac and it did something wrong using the OWC Innergize and SD Card Formatter Apps that the camera did not like. I had to manually rename it and I used Carbon Copy Cloner to dupe files and folders from the other card. Otherwise the firmware update instructions seemed to work fine for me. Thanks for sharing it. I had no idea this was there. So clearly I'm on my way to the old folks home... but I've yet to figure out how to turn on the re-center focus option... which didnt seem to appear in the release notes. Where is the feature in the menu system?

Where is the feature in the menu system? Okay... found it. Seems like you have to add it though customized control. I might have this wrong... no docs... but I find the implementation pretty weak. I should be able to move the cursor around and it stays there until I press the center button and it resets... which it does eventually, but it also cycles through the view modes. Ugh. Where is the feature in the menu system? Hold down one of the programmable buttons. I used the back wheel button. After holding it down for a couple seconds a menu will popup. Then I had to scroll down the list of options to the very last one. The options is called "Center frame". When use the button it instantly moves the screen's focus point to the very center. I can then use the arrows buttons or a screen tap (or double tap) to pick a different focus point... and again click the button to move it instantly back to the center. chioque Posted October 27, 2023 Share #58 Posted October 27, 2023 I have just installed 2.0.1 on my M11. However I can’t seem to have live view on the back LCD. I do not have any coded lens, so I choose the lens manually, mine is 50mm summicron IV. It seems the shutter curtain is closed. It only opens when I press the shutter button. Is there a new setting I need to enable for non-coded lens?
nthomas Posted October 28, 2023 Share #59 Posted October 28, 2023 Besides multiple bugs or problems is there anyone notice any color difference before and after the firmware upgrade? I think this is one crucial point that most people will concern about, especilally for Leica users
chioque Posted October 28, 2023 Share #60 Posted October 28, 2023 Can I downgrade my M11 firmware? However I cannot seem to find 1.6.1 (or 1.6.2 which was installed on my camera before by Leica service) available to be downloaded anymore from their website.
