The odd competition I referenced yesterday

As part of the Golden Eagle Festival in western Mongolia, one of their competitions is a tug-of-war on horseback, using a beheaded goat instead of a rope.  the goal is to get the other rider to let go, which sometimes happens when the other rider is unseated from his mount.  In yesterday's photo the rider just advanced in the tournament.

I suspect the goats (they used several) did not approve.

Terrific shots. I trust they at least eat the goat after it has been sufficiently tenderized by this competition.

Maybe.  Though it was quite cold (we were at about 6,000 feet in late September) I don't think it was cold enough to prevent bacterial growth in the tenderized goats, unless they cooked them right away.
