I'm not sure whether the ISO dial on the back side is a practical solution or whether this would be prone to accidentally changing the ISO when the camera is hanging over the shoulder and may slightly rub against the shirt / jacket . But of course it looks more "retro".

changing the settings on that ISO dial is still less detrimental than switching the m10d's power wheel to WiFi mode !!!  how many times did it drain my m10d's battery to nihil - in half an hour !

moreover i think i will love the ergonomic & elegant way of changing the ISO with two thumbs with my eye still looking through the viewfinder - clockwise or anticlockwise.

The dial on the M-D is very similar and that is  just nicely stiff to turn even intentionally -- I use both thumbs myself. No chance of an accidental change.

you know @Datsch on my m10d that cursed power/EC wheel was so loose for the first year or so that i had to create four tiny color-coded grooves on that taped-down wheel so one saw the position it was in - i am infamous for those holes in this LUF club, and i guess they are one of the reasons i can't seem to find a new owner for the camera...

Why don't you hide the dust with tape?😃

you are right @AndreasG - that's a good selling point - meanwhile it got a bit dedusted for the FredMiranda club.

in this context, that's for how-not-to kill ones resale luck, i am wondering if the new M11-D will optionally come in black lettering too ?  i had to blacken that bright white Leica Fadenzug on my m10d, just to be a bit more stale on the street, but that turned out to be another grave show-stopper for potential buyers and collectionistas...

That’s a very well used M10-D. Bravo, no shelf queen there, but I can see it reduces its residual value quite a bit.

correct, @newtoleica, it's a well used m10d - and i am sure my new m11d will be equally (ab)used over the years - it's a tool for me, nothing else.  the value shall be in the pictures, right ?  and ultimately for Leica too, in terms of its continued fame for picture hording cameras.  i know i sound a bit patronizing, sorry for the bitter taste...

I know. My 10-P is not taped and a bit cleaner, but likewise has some brassing and marks from use. I looked at selling it to get a 10-M and people were being sniffy about it, so I decided to keep it in addition.

Guys come on: for 10k EUR you can buy purism M6 plus Summilux 35 and thousands of film developing or a summilux 50 included. Just my opinion.

Can you though? At B&H a Leica M6 is 6000 dollars, and a 35mm Summilux is also 6000 dollars. So just the camera and lens you are already past 10K euro. The cheapest used M6 I could find as sold on ebay was 2700 dollars and the 35mm Summilux ASPH lenses were all around 3000-5000 dollars. Meanwhile, Portra is 15 dollars a roll without processing or scanning, Tmax is 11, while slides are off the charts at 22 dollars a roll for E100 and 29 dollars a roll for Provia/Velvia, assuming you can even find it. So let's say you double the price to account for processing or scanning, and you are looking at at a minimum of 30 dollars a roll for color and a 6000 dollar outlay for the camera and lens. Before you get to the M11D price, that is 166 rolls (5000 dollars). You do get a lens for that, sure. It is nothing to sneeze at, certainly for an amateur. But a wedding photographer can do that in a few weeks. Anyway, I am not saying that M11D is a bargain by any stretch, only that film is not the "cheap" option anymore. At least unless you plan to use the cheapest B&W films and process yourself (which can certainly be enjoyable.). But if you plan to buy an M6 and Summilux it seems kind of stupid to buy the crappiest films.

I just saw in the UK an M11P with latest version summilux 50mm 1.4 at £5200 combined in mint condition. Made me wince.

Hmm...........that's a helluva slide in price from new for the both, why is that do you reckon? Is it down to a lack of faith / trust in the M11 or what?

That's a really excellent breakdown Stuart, though when you do start to try to realistically assess expenditures especially within this madly costly Leica Universe then time, money and all else besides truly gets warped. One can justify anything even the unjustifiable. For me moving much more now to my personal imaging in film rather than the obligatory use of digital for professional work that preceded it I still feel that film is more worthwhile as a medium and the increased expenditure I guess I overlook. Anyway, with film I find I am shooting far less frames, maybe half a dozen or so on an outing and a roll of 24 exposures, ( I prefer the shorter length, don't really know why ), can sit in one of my film M's for weeks.

Which ever way the mop flops 10K does indeed buy a lot of film and processing and as I also print everything that I feel works as a snap there's that cost too.............Actually there's no escape, we're doomed.

Most likely a scam. It way below the going rate for a used 11P even without the lens. MBP are a good benchmark £7,700 for the camera and £4,500 for the lens....

I like a bit of colour on a black background. In fact, your choice of color coded dots is rather spooky as just last night I was thinking of taking the rather plain M11-D ISO wheel and painting each setting number a different colour of the rainbow, perhaps with a very fine ink pen ... 200 is red, 400 orange, 800 yellow and so on ....🙃

It looks interesting but I’m sticking with the 24MP original (no faux wind-on lever/EVF/connectivity/apps/“touch of Leica red”…….or of course strap lugs 🫨

Mine has its number, 599/600, on the shoe.  Why is there a strange Pxxx number on yours?

I'm excited to see how the pairing with the Photos app works. Hopefully faster than the M10-D's WiFi connection.

FOTOS beta does the background push like Pixii to your iPhone.  So I see the photos at once if you want it.  The best ever pairing.

Because it’s a prototype…P17/24 (and it’s on the side where the serial number usually is engraved.)
