Updated to V1.3.0 using the SD card. Main difference with V1.2.0 is the startup time (which with the update to V1.2.0 from previous did not change): now it starts immediately!

With 1.2 the startup was quick after a change of battery or another recent startup but slow if the cam was not used for a day.  Have you had the update long enough to test startup after, let's say, 20 hours?  I just updated and expected an immediate startup and it did.  I will see tomorrow.

Not yet. My impression was just after the update, done half hour before posting.  In any case, when upgrading to V1.2.0 I had no improvement in startup time even just after updating.

As you correctly write, let's see tomorrw!

Eye-AF hasn‘t improved on small humans compared to previous versions. It seems less jumpy and nervous though overall though.

I had that experience too. A little less nervous.
However, children are only reliably recognized from the front.
If people stand sideways or upside down (gymnastics / handstand), the detection only works as an object. No face oder eye detection works.
Very weak for a phase AF system with modern AF algorithm.

The performance isn't the worst.
What's worse is that in these cases you can't switch to another AF mode quickly enough.

After the update I see two very clear improvements:

1. Start up time is a good deal snappier

2. More important: The bug that when turning on the camera and then directly press the PLAY-button (to just check on your images) with the image-review showing but with an overlayed image-taking screen (focus-field, grit, the level-gauge are over the shown image) and the camera is freezing for a few seconds before jumping completely into the proper image-review mode, is gone. Problem fixed :)

Improvements where I am not so sure yet:

- A bit snappier single point AF (just compared it with the Q2 which is still here, now I believe the Q3 is in standard light a bit faster, but it is really, really a tiny bit only)

- A bit less erratic with People and Eye-AF (jumping box syndrome) - the camera seems to be a bit more clear on what to do. I am very confident that the camera behaves more snappy with one or only a few faces in the frame.

- Overall a more snappy behavior when chimping around (I am quite sure about this one).

No improvement:

- Black out time in single shot mode seems to be the same as before

Copy that! Immediatly to Spot AF by pressing a singe button. That would be really great. But anyway eye-af with the q3 is a real game changer for me...

Hello all. My Q3 is stuck updating to this new firmware.

It's been going for over 20 minutes which is very concerning. What are my options? Turning it off seems like the only option but that is of course a scary thing to do during an update. Thanks.

Mine is doing the same thing. I didn't have this issue with 1.2

Did you shut it off? What happened?

I went for it and shut it off after about an hr of it stuck. The update stayed on screen working after turning off so I took out the battery, put battery back in and turned it on. It turned on fine and still had v1.2!! Whew. I suppose I’ll attempt the update again and hopefully it goes through.

Mine finally updated successfully after around 15 minutes or so. It didn't give me the option to reinstall my profiles but I always keep them saved on a dedicated card so I was able to reinstall them. All seems to be okay now.

I'm glad nothing bad happened to yours!

There appears to be a bug in v1.3.

If iAF is selected, the viewfinder and rear screen exposure that is displayed looks normal until the shutter is half pressed at which point it dims by about 2 stops. When the picture is taken it looks like the undimmed exposure.

If AFs is selected, there is no dimming of the image in the viewfinder or rear display when the shutter is half pressed.

Conclusion: something weird going on with iAF affecting displayed exposure on half press of shutter release.

This is repeatable.

Anyone else have the same?

This sphincter-tightening issue occurred updating to 1.2 with the FOTOS app.  Vowed never to update from the app again.  Used an SD card with no issues and it was relatively brief.  I would highly recommend anyone doing the update to stay on the safe side and use an SD card.  Also, please let everyone know what method you used.  My assumption about updating from the SD card may be incorrect.

Just turned the camera on and it probably took 3 seconds instead of 4....maybe a little improvement.  As I've stated in other threads I know startup can be slow if the cam has been off for awhile.  That's why I will purposely turn it on BEFORE I go out and intend to use it, so I can guarantee a relatively quick startup in the next few hours.
