PeterBoyadjian Posted September 8, 2023 Author Share #2  Posted September 8, 2023 Looks like it is laser damage from an event I did a couple weeks back.  Anyone ever send a SL to Leica to have the sensor replaced?
hoolyproductions Posted September 8, 2023 Share #3 Â Posted September 8, 2023 Yes, I had to replace my sensor in early 2022 after the camera had a hard fall onto concrete. IIRC it took about 2 months. I was able to negotiate a 'loaner' camera from them while it was being prepared (the dealer where I bought the camera got involved and helped to make that happen). Cost was approx. 1000 Eu or a bit less, do not recall exactly.
jaapv Posted September 8, 2023 Share #4  Posted September 8, 2023 Ask Leica. It might be possible to map these pixels out.

It is too much. New sensor. Do ask for a loaner. Repair times run into months right now.
Jeff S Posted September 8, 2023 Share #8  Posted September 8, 2023 I’d be more worried about my eyes. Seriously. Jeff

Paul2660 Posted September 8, 2023 Share #10 Â Posted September 8, 2023 Everyone states Laser damage. Exactly how would that occur? Â Surely the OP would remember someone shinning a laser into his view? Â Â Paul

PeterBoyadjian Posted September 9, 2023 Author Share #12  Posted September 9, 2023 I went back 3 weeks and we found the exact time it happened. Leica LA is going to try to get me a loaner next week, they are being super helpful. Honestly the lasers were moving so fast we didn't notice. In Armenian we have a saying "you tricked the devil" basically it could have been worse like going blind. Live and learn, on to the next one. Welcome, dear visitor! Stuart Richardson Posted September 10, 2023 Share #13 Â Posted September 10, 2023 What a drag...I am sure that cameras are very common at events like this...I wonder how many cameras those lasers have ruined...especially for people who might not know any better or be able to figure out what happened... jaapv Posted September 10, 2023 Share #14 Â Posted September 10, 2023 Cameras are just cameras. How many eyes have been ruined? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_safety
