Unfortunately I lost the lens shade for my black chrome 35mm summicron 11689. according to Leica, there are no more spare parts. Does anyone know a source for the original shade (not a similar replacement)?...

Obviously I don't know the factory-facts but as the 11689 lens was a 500-off limited run and the lens-hood which was included as part of the package seems to be a specially made dedicated design I can't imagine why Leica would consider producing more than 500 of these 'dedicated' lens-hoods. Who would be the target market for such an item?

I suppose some folks who bought the 11689 and who are 'Anti-Hood' might be willing to sell theirs but it's a bit of a long shot.

Good luck, though!

11689 is an E39 lens if memory serves. I have no experience with it but clip-on hoods like 12585 or 12504 should fit. The pic below seems to show a 12504 hood BTW. To minimize risks you may wish to buy a 12504 China-made replica on eBay.

The hood for 11689 is very special, it is BLACK CHROME on BRASS。 and all the others are not like this

they are

Silver chrome on brass

black anodized in aluminum

black paint on brass

hammertone paint on brass

actually I have not seen any 12504 type hood for 11689 on sale separately.

I don't find that number in my books sorry. A clear as i understand, the hood you're after is a variant of the 12504 hood. The latter's two halves must be stuck, i suspect, and according to the pic below, the usual "1:1.4/35 1:2/35 12504" engraving is replaced by "M 1:2/35" with no apparent order number.

Very much so. As such were the lens to be viewed as a 'User' any 12504 (or copy thereof) would do the trick.

The only issue would be if the OP, at some point in the future, wishes to sell-on the lens as an original package because the missing hood will not only incur a subsequent financial 'loss' (relative to other 'complete' examples) but, possibly, also make their incomplete set somehow less desirable to collectors.

I recently bought two Chinese 12504 hoods, black and silver. They do the job just as well as an original one.

They are much better than some years ago when they were pretty flimsy. Now hard to tell from the real thing except for engraving.

Which isn't going to be questioned, Pyrogallol, but that isn't the issue. You, more than most here, understand the importance / value of originality in the world of 'The Collector' - especially so if the hood in question is an integral part of a Special Edition release limited to just 500 pieces world-wide.

Regardless of how efficient they might be a Chinese 12504 copy - whether in Black or Silver finish - could never, in this case, cut the mustard.
