williamj Posted August 16, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm seeing more than one new Leica M6 of 2022 for sale second hand. They are not being flipped for a profit, the sellers are taking a small loss. What do other people think. Is this buyers remorse?
Advertisement Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Hi williamj, Take a look here New Leica M6 buyers remorse?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Huss Posted August 16, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 16, 2023 They are scratchers and they dont want to deal w a 6 month wait to get it fixed. Or they bought it as a trinket during the hype season when it was announced and don’t actually shoot film. Or both.
kivis Posted August 16, 2023 Share #3 Posted August 16, 2023 IMHO the new M6 is a marketing hype as the MP and M-A serves the Leica film community quite well; and as well as many oldie's but goodies. No surprise that more than a few camera folks might have bought into the M6 as a return to film nostalgia. Then they found out that it takes a week or two to have film developed via a mail in service. Hey that's no fun, they said, we want instant gratification, like a sugar cup cake provides. Then again, I might be the one full of saw dust for owning 5 film cameras and an iPhone in 2023.
madNbad Posted August 16, 2023 Share #4 Posted August 16, 2023 It's most likely they didn't expect film and processing to cost so much. They bought the camera then found it it was thirty or forty us dollars for film and processing. 4

So you'd presumably also have seen plenty of M11s for sale second hand. Is THAT buyer's remorse? Or could it be that we just don't know the story behind every newly released camera that appears on the used market?
spydrxx Posted August 16, 2023 Share #6 Posted August 16, 2023 Surprise, surprise...the M6 doesn't solve unlearned photographers' issues, and I think many jumped into the "analog" (I still call it film) trend not knowing the reality of what to expect. 3

There are some significant rebates possible, depending on the dealer.

People that get into analog need to see it as a fun hobby, instead of expense. To be honest, this is so far cheaper than smoking Cuban cigars. Even cheaper to get into painting and building weird Warhammer toys.

I see no point in scanning personally, unless to post on social media, in which case scan the print. YMMV and speaking of B&W but colour film’s boat left a while ago. YMMV Of course and I agree, if you have the space it is so much fun and worth it. But I could also recommend "dry lab" and buy an epson 8550 printer and just get nice 10x15 and 21x30 prints. Not too bad to digitalize your photos if you can print them, otherwise it becomes sad to have them stored in the hard drive. If you have option for dark room, that's great! I do both.

earleygallery Posted August 16, 2023 Share #18 Posted August 16, 2023 Could be they wanted to try it and decided they prefer another camera. Could be they thought they could sell it for a profit but found that they can't. Could be they wanted to try film and decided to stick with digital. Could be a sudden need for cash due to the cost of living crisis. Could be a scam. Could be....(insert reason)

Pyrogallol Posted August 17, 2023 Share #20 Posted August 17, 2023 If you are only going to print digitally you might as well buy a digital camera. Film cameras and darkrooms go together.
