  • stuny changed the title to Sun up at the beach - Which of the 3 do you prefer?

#2 - maybe with a  little lift in foreground and figure (presumably Barbara).

Thank you, Keith, but it's not Barbara - Just a woman on the beach whose hair was rimmed by the pre-sunup light.  Barbara was standing next to me on the 2-mile long boardwalk.

Keith (pedaes) suggested bringing up the foreground in the 3rd photo.  No surprise that he was right.  Please see below:

Stuart, if you are in the mood for further experimentation with your fine seascape, using the same mask used for brightening  your picture, make gentle adjustments to the white balance  (colour temperature) until you warm up the foreground  to produce an effect more in sympathy with the sunset. If you dislike the changes, just undo them. The colour balance choice is entirely personal.

Stuart, nearly but not quite. I have a disadvantage in not knowing the true colour of the foreground. I guess your version more nearly approaches the truth. It is just a shade more blue than I expected. Maybe that is how it looks at that hour. It is more important that the end result pleases you. That is what matters most.
