I’m pretty impressed with the Q3 battery life.

I was just on an 8+hr long hike yesterday where, for about 5.5hrs, I had the camera turned off when not shooting but every few minutes, I’d power it on to take a few shots. I’m on firmware v1.1.0 with the camera connected to the FOTOs app via Bluetooth for geotagging. In all, I took 364 60MP photos and the camera still had around 60-80% battery life remaining at the end of the day. I should also note that it was a very bright day so EVF and LCD was on full brightness whenever the camera was on.

That is the way I've treated all my non-Leica cams during shoots to get the maximum battery life.  Haven't been on an all day excursion with the Q3 yet but your experience is reassuring I may not need to change batteries.  Thanks for the post.

That’s consistent with how my Q3 has performed too … until today. All was well until I had my first experience of the infamous “won’t turn off” glitch; after ejecting the battery and reinserting it, the battery was completely flat, having taken only a few dozen photographs.

Fortunately I carry a spare, so I could continue shooting for the rest of the day and with heaps of battery capacity left.

I may add that charging the battery is fast too. A Nikon charger (model EH-7P for Nikon Z7, output 5V, 3A) takes 2.5 hrs to bring a depleted battery to full charge, and a power bank (24,000mAh, 3.7V) takes about the same time to full charge and still has 60% power left in the bank.

I took the Q3 out again yesterday on a 7 hour hike, this time I shot about 990 photos and still had around 30-50% on the battery at the end of the day. With that said, I kept the camera off when I’m not shooting and only turned it on when I’m ready to take a photo. Also a number of the photos are panoramas and exposure bracketing bursts so that certainly will improve battery usage for the number of shots taken.
