Can you tweak the logo screw's alignment on the M10-P / M-P 240 / M10-R BP / M10M without unscrewing it?

Vain question / nitpick: I notice on certain Leica cameras the "logo screw" (in place of the red dot) is not at 45º, 180º, or 90º and that would annoy me.

Is it possible to rotate the screw without loosening or tightening it, or is the final position pretty much set?

"If it isn't  broke, then don't fix it"

I'd rather live with a misaligned slot than have a mangled slot minus paint by caused by an ill-fitting screwdriver.

It seems really poor design IMVHO, for all that money surely Leica could have produced a body without the hole.

I think the apparently casual design is actually very well thought out.

If the screw had been precisely horizontal or vertical, the whole design point would have been lost and it would have been better not to have it at all.

There must be a hole to be able to adjust the vertical RF alignment, and since people complained about the red sticker covering it, the screw made sense. Perhaps they could have used a torx or Allen socket instead, but that would take a thicker screw head. Before the red dot they also used screws for years, and I never heard a complaint about how they aligned.

Legend has it each time you align the screw in perfect horizontal or vertical position the Chinese will come up with a new M lens.

I thought four horsemen will appear and Armageddon will start when the screw head aligned horizontally

Be careful - I mangled the screw on my M10M. First go around was fine, but then I went to unscrew it again to adjust the vertical (didn't quite get it right the first time) and lo and behold the screw wouldn't come out as I had screwed it back in just ever so slightly askew. Mangled the paint on the screw which isn't that big of a deal to me. In the end, had to remove the entire top to re-adjust, and leaving as is for now until there's another reason for it to go back to Leica, where they'll probably have to drill it out to replace. So be careful with that screw!

And to the OP - stop staring at the front of the camera - it's a tool. You should only be seeing the back as you're so busy taking wonderful photos with it. Your OCD will soon dissipate.

Yeah, but when I take artistic photos of myself in the mirror, everyone will see a misaligned screw. Not to mention when I'm casually drinking an afternoon coffee and inspiration strikes to take a photo of my Leica. Don't tell me these aren't quintessential Leica photos!

That's what Photoshop is for, lol! The neural screw straightening filter is your friend.

There's no way precise Wetzlar engineering could possibly make any flaws. The world itself must be crooked!

That is the answer - I am surprised that somebody hasn’t already started making aftermarket replacements, probably in all sorts of anodised colours…

The variable alignment of the RF adjust screw is actually a nostalgia feature harking back to the Leica glory days of the M2,3,4,5:

Of course, maybe a few people complained about it back then, which led to covering the hole with a nice red sticker on later models.
