Everything is in the title:  would you rather have one M11 or 2 M10-R?

2 M11's.

I've owned an M11 since launch and I could never go back to the M10 platform.

Not that there's anything wrong with the platform mind you, I used an M10-P for about 3 years and loved it.

That's an interesting question that I'm certain should get a few varied responses.  I'll give mine since you've asked.  I have one m10r, black paint version, and I wouldn't swap it for a m11.  Probably not even for 2 m11s.  Not that I didn't examine the new features and consider if it was a needed upgrade but the upgraded features were not something I needed for my style of photography and I'm perfectly happy with what I already own.  I've read the posts and complaints on the m11 section and while most are content with their purchase, many have had less than stellar results.  Then there are others that make excuses, blame the operator and suggest work arounds for them to get their new camera to function and take pictures as it should.  I've not had the first issue with my m10r and haven't found anywhere near the amount of complaints in the m10 forum area.  I don't think the m11 is a poor choice, it just isn't what I would choose, at least not until most of the bugs are worked out.   As always, your mileage may vary and how you spend your money is your business.  Best of luck with whatever choice you make.

Before this thread devolves into people justifying and protecting their purchases, perhaps the OP can tell us a bit more about their experience with M camera ownership, and their needs - are they shooting events where multiple identical cameras with different lenses mounted would be extremely helpful? And so on.

Well I currently have 2 M10-R bodies (3 if you count M10-M) and I really like the possibility to have different lenses mounted on the different bodies. It makes swapping from one focal length to another so easy that you do not have to wonder if you would change the lens or not... Add to that the possibility to do monochrome when suited. The M11 will never offer this flexibility.

I think you have your answer. I often wish I had two identical bodies to work with.  can't ell you how many times I've forced one lens to suffice all day while having two more in the bag with me :) . The closest I've come to working with two bodies was when I owned both the M240-P and M246 at the same time. At the end of the day I think functionality is far more important than which model you have so I would strongly suggest keeping what you have for now.

M10 cameras are for traditional photographers i.e. people like i used to be half a century ago. Now i expect from an M camera that it works fine in LV mode as well so 1, 2 or 10 M10 cameras of any sort are simply a no-no for me but i understand they may please to more conservative people than i am.

what was wrong with M10 live view?
What M10 were you using 50 years ago?

How does the M11 differ from the M10 in terms of Live View.
I don't understand your comments about the M10 for traditional photographers.

Please check your comment.  It makes no sense!

why kid.

If you are trying to explain your comments, then be more objective.  I think you dont have good reason to criticise another body.  If you are using live view and find it slow, I suspect you arent using your cameras optimally.

You seem to take those things too personally. Just make the effort to think that not everyone necessarily agrees with you, and you'll be fine

Thanks for your advice.    No effort required. I am already fine.  No one needs to agree with me. I haven't asked for that..  But I'm speaking on behalf of all the contributors on this part of the forum who are interested in facts, not jokes.  .

The fact is that Live view is slow... always. It is very awkward.  It isn't really appropriate or useful for live shooting?  However, each to their own.

Use Barnacks Bar for non-specific debates and fun.

On my M240 it is. The M10 is a bit better but you may wish to try the modern side of the road. The M11 is perhaps made you after all ;)

I'm very pleased with my new M10-r. I use it with lenses from 21mm to 135.  Didn't want to get involved with the M11.  Hated the M240. Dumped it within a week..   Started with an M9-P.  Still regret selling it.

I've been using an M11 with the VF-2 since pretty close to its first appearance, so I went through some of the growing pains.  But with firmware 1.6.1, the M11 has been trouble-free. I was using both M11 and M10-R recently, in order to keep two lenses at hand, and the slower response of the M10-R was pretty off-putting.    So the 10-R may get sent off soon to raise a little cash for whatever is coming next.  Now, the M10-D is going to stay around for quite a while.
