And I take comments based on fact as fact.  I don't know you, you don't know me, so the only way we know veracity of claims is by providing proof.

Yer bud refused to provide any.  End of story.

No thanks.  I don’t post photos here.  But I surely would have emailed pics to Nigel if I had concerns. That’s the benefit of a small company whose owners (and only workers) communicate directly with customers.

Jeff

Of course not.  Two people claiming their Foggs are great, two people refusing to post pics proving it.

Gotcha.

Honestly there are so many pouch bags out there designed to take one camera with lens, that you are spoiled for choice.  If you are close to a camera store, they always have a bunch to try out.

I haven’t posted a pic here in 14 years, and don’t plan to make an exception for you. Doesn’t make me a liar. Send your pics to Nigel, not to us, if you care more about service than personal insults and whining.

I generally agree with your approach. I often just throw one of these in whatever bag I want to use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JVJXSXW/

In this particular thread, I'm just looking for something super small and lightweight that could fit inside the insert linked above (as the Lowepro in my original message does). If it can fit an extra lens, this isn't the thread for it. :)

Sorry I missed your intent; it sounds like are looking for a pouch, that holds a M camera and attached lens, that will be dropped into a larger bag; for that purpose, I use these : https://www.tamrac.com/products/goblin-body-pouch-1-4

Not exactly. I'm looking for a very small bag with shoulder strap that just has room for the camera. (Such a bag would also be small enough that I could drop it into an insert inside a backpack or messenger bag.) This is the one I've used for all my other M cameras in the past: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KZD73W Since it's been discontinued, and I'm having trouble finding a new one for a fair price, I wanted to see if there might be any alternatives available.

Sorry, Huss. How can I put this? You’re just not that important enough for me to bother? And because when you get the bit between your teeth you just take over a thread?

Despite @Jeff S’s kind words, my opinions are not fact, just opinions and subjective experiences, which the OP, and anyone else reading them, can treat as they wish.

Everyone should get this one for sure

the idea of the pouch is that I am NOT wearing anything except my camera. The pouch is for when I put the camera away.

Not what I pictured, obviously.  And the strap comes off for storage inside larger bag or elsewhere. Leica sells gaudy special edition cameras, too; not designed to appeal to all.

FWIW, I don’t use a bag when shooting (unless freezing or snowing) or for storage. My all-black bags are otherwise used only for travel or car transport. Nobody notices or cares.  And they’ve lasted decades.

I recently handled a Peak Design Field Pouch, at a local seller. I did not shove an M camera, with a small lens, into it, but I believe that it meets the OP’s criteria. It accommodates a belt, for belt-pouch mode, or a strap.

The Think Tank web site is very useful, for determining a best bag or pouch for one’s needs, and the products are built to a very high standard of ruggedness, while being of very thoughtful design. The Mirrorless Mover series comes to mind, to fit the OP’s criteria, but I am unsure exactly which model. Actually, a Think Tank lens pouch could be mistaken for a water bottle holder, and I have considered acquiring one that would accommodate an M camera, with a compact lens affixed, for the times I would want onlookers to have no idea that I am toting an M camera, with a lens, each worth several thousand US dollars.

Personally, my recent acquisition, to carry an M camera, with lens mounted, is the Think Tank Speed Bag 10, for some of it s design features, but it would be oversized, for the OP’s criteria.

I would avoid Ona bags. Heavy, with design flaws, which include funneling rain water or dust into the interior, in the case of at least one model. (I received one as a gift.)

Oberwerth bags are excellent, but I have no familiarity with the bags in their line, smaller than my wife’s Freiburg, which is larger than the OP’s requirements.

Update: I remembered that one of my Think Tank bags is of the Mirrorless Mover Series, so pulled it from its resting place, finding that it is the early edition of the Mirrorless Mover 20. Previously, I had used it to transport a Canon 5D, with a pancake 40mm lens affixed, but I had more-recently used it to transport a compact camera and a flash. It will hold my M10, with a Voigtlander Color Skopar 35mm II. The back of the M10, and the lens hood will make contact the interior of the bag, with the hood pushing the fabric outward, slightly. There is more room than needed, to accommodate the longest dimension of an M camera. If the camera is centered, there is about two fingers’ width, on either side. I like this extra bit of buffer space, so, would rather not use something much smaller, for an M camera.

Alternately, I could lay my M10 on its back, on the bottom of the Mirrorless Mover 20, to allow keeping a longer lens affixed.

If I stand my M10, in vertical orientation, it protrudes upward just a bit too much.

It would be just possible to carry one extra M lens, of modest diameter, in one end of Mirrorless Mover 20, using one of the provided dividers.

Here is a link to the current edition of the Mirrorless Mover 20.

Notably, the large flap protects the contents of the bag from brief, sudden showers and splashes. The rain cover is additional protection, that should stand up to heavy, prolonged rain.

Thank you for this. I ordered the Mirrorless Mover 10 to try out. I got the Lowepro Adventura SH 100, which looks like my existing bags, but it's, unfortunately, slightly smaller and inferior (no shoulder pad on the strap, no rain shield, more abrasive interior materials), so I am returning it. Hopefully, the search will end with the Think Tank, but I welcome other suggestions.

Can anyone recommend a good, small, lightweight, padded bag that will fit only the M with an attached 35mm or 50mm lens and also protect against rain? I've long used these, but they've been discontinued: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KZD73W

I would definitely recommend the Billingham 72, as others did already.

It is sturdy, durable, very well padded and rain safe (I verified this part already 😉).

From my point of view an almost perfect fit to your request.

I use it all the time (hiking, walking the dog, street photography etc.)

I am glad to be helpful. I did not mention the Mirrorless Mover 10, because I thought it might be too small, but, admittedly, I did not look at the actual specification for the interior dimensions. I hope that the 10 works well for you. Had I known that you were going to order the 10, I could have tried a 10, with an M camera, and reported the result, as I believe that nearby Houston Camera Exchange has the 10 in stock.

I like that an M camera can lie flat on its back, inside the Mirrorless Mover 20, with enough room, at either end, for my fingers to quickly scoop the camera from the bag. I had not known this, until yesterday, because I had previously used this 20 for a DSLR, with a pancake lens, and, at other times, a Nikon Coolpix A, a pocket camera, but with an APS-C sensor, and a serious fixed-focal length lens, a competitor of the Ricoh GR. An SLR/DSLR is too tall to be able to lie flat on its back, inside the Mirrorless Mover 20.

Think Tank, in general, makes superb bags, cases, and related accessories. We use Think Tank Glass Taxi and Glass Limo backpacks to protect and transport our enormously expensive Nikon 200mm f/2 and 500mm f/4 lenses. (Well, like all SLR/DSLR lenses, they have depreciated, in this time of mirror-deprived cameras, but we bought them pre-owned, which softens that blow, and we consider them to be tools, to be used, not financial investments.)

For a one lens camera bag I would strongly recommend the Hadley Digital. It is small yet big enough to accommodate a Leica body with a mounted lens. In fact it will work with all Leica lenses. Plus there is space for one additional lens or flash. It is rain proof and comes in a whole range of colours.
