Perhaps the true ideal would be an L mount Q, released along with one or two compact primes to supplement the SL system. But I guess that would cannibalize the SL line too much and perhaps make the Q and lens unaffordable for the target audience.

But then it would not be a Q... The lenses would be much bigger, since the Q lens is retracted into the body and very close to the sensor. And we would also lose the fantastic leaf shutter.

I'd like to try the 75 Noctilux on my M10R but I guess it would be frustrating - too many missed focussed photos.  And then there's the cost ☹️

From what I seen on this forum, particularly the Mono section, it can be sensational when you get it right.

It is. And honestly it's such a pig I'd never use it on an M body. But OMG the pictures you can make with it....

@trickness, @T25UFO: could you please start praising a lens which wouldn’t cost that much 😇
Or just tell me that the nocti is an overkill for the 2s with only 24mp.

50 1.4 Lux M ASPH and get rid of everything else. It's cheap second hand (for Leica glass) and can get Nocti-like results wide open. For me, the greatest Leica lens of all time (but I am a 50mm guy...)

If you can use it on SL2, then you can use it on M with Visoflex.

Yes you can but it’s such a huge heavy lens that it’s more about the handling challenges on the smaller M body. Plus the visoflex is trash compared to the SL EVF.

Obviously, you can use the lens on an M because it’s an M mount. The question is how enjoyable will it be. Have you ever used a 75 Nocti on either the SL or M bodies?

That one I have (v1), bought it for the mm. Didn’t use it on the SL though, should try it.

Getting rid of everything else is hard, but I try to keep things as simple as possible.

I’m actually starting to think the SL 50 apo summicron is the greatest Leica lens of all time…

Glad we have so many choices to sway our opinions in this GOAT selection.

Greatest Of All Time.

I owned one for a while. It never really worked for me. The 90 APO is a great lens. Pairs well with a 28.

I prefer the CV 50 f1 to any of the Noctilux 50’s. The 0.95, which I had for 7 years never grabbed me. And I’m definitely a 50mm guy. I like the CV a LOT though.

The 50CV and the Noctilux 50’s are about as far from a *perfect* lens as you can get, thankfully. Not that I don’t like *perfect* lenses. My 50 APO M and SL are my most used 50’s. Nice to have something different to compliment them.

You haven't noticed a very heated discussion in the tennis world about who the GOAT is? (correct answer is Novak, of course... 🙂 )

Nope, don’t care about ball sports… who is novak?

All the information you inquired about can be easily found online. That topic is irrelevant to OP.

I know that, i assume it was related to tenis, but i don’t care. But, certain abbreviations I don’t know, andI guess it is not bad asking what it means, as it might be Leica related.

Goat, asma, mm, asph, whatever lens abbreviations LUF might have, google might not know.

F.e. First hit for me on LUF is www.luf-uf.com , now try to find sth about lenses there…

Since this thread has turned a corner into 50mm lenses I'll add my story. I'm new to the SL2 system and plan to use my 50 V5 Summicron-M. It tests out really well right from f/2. It was going unused on my Ms because the f/4 focus shift was to difficult for me to handle predictably with the rangefinder. The SL2 EVF has given it a new lease on life. The 50 V5 tests out much better on my SL2 than my 50 Lux ASPH V1 which really struggles below f/4.

Fair enough. But you live in Zagreb and you don't know who Novak is? Yeah, right...🙃

Sorry for off topic. I will say no more about this
