At Taittingers in Reims.  BTW:  This was the least satisfying wine tasting event we've ever attended.

Although I like the B&W version, the bright yellow adds so much for me.

Sellers don't like champagne tasting sessions - unless they have enough tasters to empty the bottle immediately, there's too much wastage. So you are unlikely to get the best ones for tasting.

We had a similar soul-destroying visit and tasting at Champagne Mercier. Our solution: found a small independent champagne seller in Épernay and asked him for recommendations for a mixed case of six based on our preferences. We enjoyed the discussion, his selection and, so far, the result. He even told us the order to drink them in so that, if we had to open two together, there was a fighting chance they would work well together. None of them were recognised brand names.
