Came up with a marumi uv IR filter. No mention of “cut”. Is it one and the same?

Could be. Does it have a slightly red or pink cast when viewed at an angle from the front?

IIRC Marumi UV/IR filters are dichroic filters whereas B&H UV/IR filters are 'hot mirror' filters and I prefer the output of dichroic filters because they appear to me to produce truer colours by blocking the infrared wavelengths more effectively with steeper cut-off slopes.  Hot mirror filters can allow infrared wavelengths to 'leach' in if the cut-off slope isn't steep enough.

You sold me. I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere, though. :( Guess they are discontinued.

Anyone have thoughts on Kolari's two cut filter offerings?

Just get B+W 486 filters Thousands if not tens of thousands of M8 owners have been using them successfully for nearly two decades.
there is no difference of photographic significance to Leica ones which are rebadged Marumi filters.

Marumi seems to be still trading but on its website all of its screw-in filters are marked as 'sold out' and it seems that the company has moved across to magnetic filters*.  Unfortunately I couldn't see any UV-IR filters on the magnetic filters page so perhaps Marumi has moved on in the face of low demand for what is likely to be a niche product.

*The magnetic filters seem to be sized to appeal to owners of DSLR lenses, ie 62 mm and larger and are likely to be larger than needed for an M8's lenses, and mostly ND, and 'Black Mist' type filters.

You might need to trawl the aftermarket sellers and auction sites to locate what you're looking for.

Pete.
