stuny Posted June 17, 2023 Share #3 Posted June 17, 2023 Very nice. Rather than "expect," perhaps "hope to be...."

Guest Posted July 8, 2023 Share #9 Posted July 8, 2023 It may not look great, giving the false impression of a “double-chin”, but the posture of the guy with the mentioned t-shirt is perfect for the long-term health of the neck. Noticeable different from the early stage of the “tortoise neck” shown by the young man at his side. (OK, he has a backpack to outbalance.) Unfortunately most of us acquire different degrees of this from long hours at a desk (+ the misconception, that a more healthy posture during conversations might be perceived as a reserved body language sign, as opposed to friendly and engaging attention, forwarding the head towards the others.) This habit evolves with age, but luckily with a bit of effort and self awareness it can be corrected. I have a question: are there iphone apps for the timer to be set, so that there’s a recurring acoustic signal at random intervals, customizable between x and y minutes? Say varying between 20 and 45 minutes at unpredictable intervals ? (Set intervals, say every half an hour would be distracting because of the anticipation, imo). All one has to do then, is to react to this reminder, while sitting in front of the PC to gently press one’s chin backwards with a finger a bit - and continue work. (Fitness buffs could do push-ups, squats, burpees… you name it). Thanks in advance for a few good tips!

A woman in California by the name of Esther Gokhale has developed a course devoted entirely to posture as a means to alleviate back and neck pain. She discusses techniques similar to what you mentioned for positioning the head in a proper alignment. I don't know of any apps like you wondered about but there are likely watches with timers that can be set at various custom intervals. There seem to be a bunch, for example: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/random-timer-generator/id1621894479 (I haven't tried any, yet)...
fotografr Posted July 9, 2023 Author Share #12 Posted July 9, 2023 (edited) It's actually kind of funny with this post that people assumed I was referring to the shirt worn by the guy in the middle who's facing the camera. Nobody seemed to notice the shirt worn by the guy behind him who has his back to the camera. 😁 Welcome, dear visitor! Another situation when folks train their cervical vertebral column into the tortoise shape, which accentuates with age 🥱 I’m referring to the 90% of people, who also in public places give their full attention to the phone. Agreed. When I'm on our university campus at class change times, almost every student emerging from the buildings is looking down at their phone. If I was a young person in school and trying to decide on a satisfying and lucrative career, I'd seriously consider orthopedic rehabilitation. Guest Posted July 9, 2023 Share #15 Posted July 9, 2023 The easiest is non-heroic non-rehabilitation but a free and easy trick: press your chin gently back a few times per day, until you remember to always keep your neck straight (in a profile). Thanks for showing us this picture of the athlete with a good natural posture .
