It is up to you to change lenses. And to print "Q4" on a glued piece of paper should be possible.

Here is a red point addition.

Thank you.

Full marks for innovative thinking there! But that wouldn't be authentic; and a lot closer to a "Q4" I might find on AliExpress! And it is Q10 which is the subject under discussion here

PS: Forgive my ignorance but what's that fine little gadget you have

Sure that is one possibility. But the lens is interchangeable, and it is not called Q4

What to do?

You could wait for the announced Rollei by Mint Cameras or the 35mm point & shoot announced by Pentax, which has just released a new film camera a month or two ago

Thank you. But we are talking within the Leica universe and looking for features for Q4 right up to Q10

There is still hope for a Q4-S(for still images only) .  Eliminate everything to do with Video from the motherboard and optimise functions that only pertain to "still photography".  This would be another specialised market that has been used in the past(successfully) with colour schemes, editions and wraps, usually sold at a premium.  I for one would jump at such an offering for an exclusive camera with a fixed lens and optimised for "still photography".  Leica might be the only company to pull it off....

I love my Q3 but here are some things id kill for in the next iteration (I just spent 5k on a point and shoot so the Q4 is out of the window until my Q3 has been ran until death)

An actual usable version of the AE/L and AF/L, the one shot thing is so silly.

I do love the flip screen but i wish it was more flush.

A longer, more accurate and more usable focus throw. 2-Infinity is so annoying. I know they wont ever change this design but this is my "perfect" Q3 idea.

Built in memory would be nice peace of mind.

My mind has gone blank right now but those are the main ones. Peace

Some of my wish list:

  • Faster startup time from sleep
  • Back button focus
  • Allow screen of/on switch programmed to a Fn button (I now have the EVF/EVF EXT/... cycle programmed to it, but I have to press it twice to get this behaviour)
  • I can live without the Macro (that could perhaps slim the lens down a bit - or allow f/1.4)
  • I can live without video, if that has advantages to improve the photo quality, focus speed, less rolling shutter with electronic shutter, etc.
  • Have a true monochrome DNG option (at the photosite level not B/W conversion after demosaicing - like Pixii)
  • Even better high-ISO performance (lower noise levels)
  • Option to buy the camera without the red dot :)
  • Allow personal "LUTs"/"Looks" developed by third parties or own adjustments
  • Perhaps a mini joystick instead of the four directions switch
  • Extra SD-card slot

As one of those who bought the Q2 immediately after the Q3 was announced, there is not much that Leica could do to make me want the Q4 unless there is total redesign of the lens. A smaller 28mm to balance better with the body and be more pocketable or the introduction of different focal lengths (eg. a 50mm in addition to the existing 28) perhaps, but I don't see any of those happening in the foreseeable future.

The Q2 for what it is set out to do is still an almost perfect camera. more resolution or advanced video specs are irrelevant. Also, my Q2 has been rock solid and has helped me capture some of my best pictures yet.

I agree. For me and my uses, the q2 is virtually perfect after ~3 years of almost constant use. I’m almost always able to get the shot I need with my setup that I’m totally accustomed to.

My only pain points would be:

1) USB C charging would be huge (and they made that upgrade on the q3)

2) dual SD slots (although I’ve never lost photos on this camera)

3) The ability to shoot lower resolution raw files (as I believe is available on the q3)

Yes, it’s larger than the GR series. But that’s why it’s f1.7 and not f2.8. Just the price you pay…

My requests may seem link heresy, but based on several months of experience with the Q3, here's what I'd like to see and none of it relates to IQ, which is, IMHO, now terrific.

1. IBIS: The current OIS is quite poor and WAY behind industry standards today.

2. Swap the locations of the control wheel (ISO adjustment) and on/off switch. When shooting it would be really easy to adjust exposure compensation with a wheel under the shutter release.

3. Internal memory without removing the SD card slot, or dual card slots.

4. Much faster turn on. Even with the firmware updates, it is very slow to turn on from off.

5. Option to remove Video from the control screen. It's too easy to accidentally switch to video from photo.

6. Tri-focal length lens: 28-35-50. Yea, I know that this isn't going to happen, but one can dream. Otherwise, leave it alone - it ain't broke.

7. Option for b/w DNG output.

I'm having trouble thinking of anything else. I really love my Q3, but the above would easily cause me to trade it for a Q4.

DNG has no color: it’s the Bayer array that gives you color. Without it you have the basis of the future Q3M.

I think he means something like the Pixii, which gives you the option to get a b/w dng in camera.
However, I think Pixii patented the method, and anyway with such an option  Leica won’t be able to upsell you monochrome versions

Or maybe @DannyF wants a B&W DNG image to be B&W after import. That would be an issue with the post processor, not the camera. I am waiting for clarification.
