Pardeetime Posted August 17, 2023 Share #781 Posted August 17, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wanted to make a quick post about using the HotStock app. I’ve been lurking here since launch desperately trying to get my hands on a Q3 (preordered on BH on June 12, a little late I know) and after seeing some of the HotStock posts, I decided to pay the 5$ for the premium subscription just in case. It’s been two weeks since the last drop on the Leica USA site and I got a notice on my watch about it being in stock at 12:15 today. I was already on the computer, a quick click of add to cart and I was checked out in 20 seconds. I’d say the 5$ was worth it. Happy hunting out there. I asked why they hadn't contacted me as I had been on their waiting list for 6+ months. They checked and said they 'couldn't find me on their list' ..... but made sure I couldn't see what they were looking at on the computer and shut the screen off when I tried. It's obvious that 'waiting lists' for some suppliers are more for their benefit than their customers..... I'm on the W/L of a smallish independent supplier that I know from past experience is reliable, fair and just takes a nominal single figure deposit as a sign of your good faith. Basically it’s 1 month per hour of pre-orders. So September for 1PM and October for 2PM etc. For orders placed later in the day expect them in 2024. I was a bit late to the pre-order process. On May 28th, I placed pre-orders with B&H, Adorama & my local camera store. After talking to some folks at the camera store and reviewing feedback from this group and others, I also called about 8-10 other stores and added my name to waiting lists. This was a combination of Leica stores and smaller stores that sold Leica. Based on what I was seeing and talking to people, it appeared it was going to be awhile before I had the chance to buy. So (based on some input in this forum) I downloaded the HotStock app and started tracking the Q3. There were a couple of times that I received hits but by the time I got to the website and input my info, it was gone. Taking the advice of a previous poster, I loaded my Leica account with all of my essential data (address, payment info, etc). I have been keep that page open each day in my browser and ensure that my account was logged in and on the Q3 page. I also did a Hotstock monthly premium subscription ($5.49). Late yesterday afternoon (around 3:45 pm EST) I received a HotStock alert on my iPhone - I immediately went to that browser page, refreshed and it showed available to "Add to Cart" - I added it, quickly moved through the confirmation pages and about 45 seconds later received an order confirmation. Just received shipping confirmation & tracking number that it will be delivered Tuesday. Now have gone back and unsubscribed from the HotStock app and in the process of cancelling my pre-orders with B&H and Adorama. As a side note, I checked in with a good friend at the local camera store (large and reputable store) a couple of weeks ago and they told me that have not seen demand anywhere close to any previous Leica and they had only received 5-6 units since the announcement and could not even give me an estimate on when the would receive. Realized I'd have no shot at getting it in Germany's Leica store so basically gave up on the thought of buying the Q3 this trip. Well I was browsing El Corte Ingles in Madrid and just saw a Q3 sitting there in the Leica display cabinet. Pulled the trigger on the spot, and apparently it was the last one. Based on the feedback seen here I would be surprised if I see mine before December. Hopefully I am wrong and we both have ours for October trips. If not I'll just to 'suffer' with my Fuji X-H2. JTLeica Posted August 22, 2023 Share #800 Posted August 22, 2023 All I can say to those ordering from large national store, is to phone around all small Leica dealers you can think of or find online, and you will get one within a month or so. I called around 12, finally found one with stock the same month. The tiny stores in the UK are reliably getting 4 ish per month, this shop only had a wait list of three.
