Having recently sold my Q2 I'm already missing it a bit.  So I allowed my sadness to get the best of me and bought a new Q2 Ghost to tide me over.  It caught my eye when it was released last week but I don't generally go for commemorative Leica models.  Not very practical.  Rebound romance, I guess.  I'm a sad case.

I’m not doubting what your contact said but volume wise non-Leica stores sell way more than Leica stores. I doubt they will give supplies to Leica stores before non-Leica stores. I can only imagine how many orders Adorama has to be quoting orders for 12/23. In 2019 I ordered the Q2 two full days after launch and I got it in 3 months. I’m expecting to get the Q3 in less than 3 months as this time I ordered on launch day. I do think people in Europe have an edge in getting cameras quicker than the US mainly due to shipping and location.

For newly released products, if I want it in a timely manner, I only use Leica owned boutiques.  Leica Miami is privately owned so does not count.  So far, it has worked for me getting in demand items including the APO M 35 Cron in about a month.  In the past I used other well known Leica dealers.  My go to dealer stated that Leica had told them special products, such as the re issue steel rim M lens were to be sold only by Leica themselves.  I'm not sure if this is completely true but he knew this would have deterred me from placing an order with him.  

For current products not in high demand, I order from Hong Kong as their pricing is usually excellent.  I want to take advantage of B&H's Payboo option to save on taxes but they never have delivered hard to find items in a timely fashion in my experience.

Sadly Leica Hong Kong stores are shitheads. They say they put you on a pre-order list (before the camera was announced) and by the time it's out this list has magically disappeared, you never get contacted about your pre-order and when you ask them about it they treat you like a new walk-in customer. "If you order now you will get it end of year". And for that they're charging effectively 30% more than the price in Europe. Will never talk to them again, let alone buy from them.

I'm never use "Q" before, I used to use Leica T, D_lux(type109) & M6.

I also ordered Q3 in B&H, May 27, 2023 (GMT+8)around 9:30am.

Let see when will they ship the camera to me~ (will be ship to Hong Kong)

I ordered my copy from b&h at 2pm central time on May 30th.

Really hoping the wait won’t be as long as 3-6 months like some are saying. 

I used PayPal so I paid in full. I received an order confirmation and that is all.

A non-Leica owned Leica dealer that I have bought from in the past suggested I put my name on multiple lists (in addition to his), especially Leica dealers because they would get more supply. I followed his advice and added my name to several Leica dealers' wait lists maybe two weeks before the Q3 was released. The camera was announced on 3/25 and I got a call from Leica Boston on 3/27 that I was next on the list. They shipped it out on Tuesday (Monday was Memorial Day) and I had it in hand on Thursday (6/1). This was my first purchase from Leica Boston and I couldn't be more pleased with their service. Based on what I was told and my observations, I definitely think Leica stores are getting more Q3s than non-Leica owned stores.

I spoke to someone at Leica Los Angeles this weekend who claimed they had only received one shipment so far which contained 18 units. They expected a similar amount of units in the next shipment. So it does sound like it will be a while for many of us.

I think you mean 5/25 and 5/27 right? I also think it’s possible that they have less volume. I’m glad you were able to get it so soon. Have you had any issues with it?

18 is a lot more than I expected. I see this as good news.

Hi. When did you order from Clifton Cameras? 
I placed my order on 25th May around 8pm. I’m not too fussed if I don’t get it soon (as long as it’s not several months..) but just trying to get a rough idea if it’s going to be weeks or months.

 

I also noticed they updated their website to say new orders will have a 6-8 months lead time.

actually I just sent them a quick message on their online chat and they responded saying I’m 6th on the waiting list so it’s around 2-6 weeks wait at the moment.

Although I wish I could get it sooner, I’m ok with this. Gives me time to get some accessories. I’ve already managed to get the thumb grip and extra battery, and the shutter release button is on preorder. Next on the list is an Oberwerth Q bag.

FYI - from bhphotovideo online chat: "We got an update on 6/2 that shows no eta at the moment. We should be having another eta request in 2 weeks. However, we did request from the manufacturer to ship enough to cover the backorder first and then get another shipment for stock."

Ok, just checked the status of my order on b&h using their app.

Although still marked as back ordered b&h has updated my order placed on 5/30 to “processed”. But the progress bar used in the app is grey instead of green. 

The spare battery I ordered has also been marked as “processed” but the app progress bar on that item is green. 

Not sure if any of this means anything, I just thought I would share this small update for others who’ve ordered from b&h.

Yes, it is still marked as back ordered. However my order has updated to include a check mark over processed. Whatever that may mean.

Mine has had the same mark for a while now. It means nothing. Lol. B&H has been very tight lipped on any info. They won’t even tell me what place I am in line. I guess we wait. Lucky it’s not something I “need”.

I sort of figured it didn’t mean much but I thought I would share since something seemed to have changed. 
 

thanks for saying b&h won’t tell you where you’re at in line. I’ve read a few posts from others stating they were given approximate information about where their order fell and I was contemplating giving them a call. Saved me some time!

I have had zero luck with them telling me where I am in line, so I have no idea how others are getting this information.  I think once it has been processed, it will turn green.

I ordered my Q3 from Adorama online on its release day (May 25) at 9:04am ET/ 7:04am MT and was told it was backordered. I literally just received an email letting me know that my Q3 will be delivered to me in Colorado by UPS on Friday, June 9.  Needless to say I’m pretty excited. I posted not to gloat but to give others hope as they wait in the dark.  Good luck!
