hansvons Posted May 24, 2023 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Hive, I’m seeking a 39mm 85 or 85B filter for shooting tungsten film in daylight. Anyone an idea where to find one? There are many in larger sizes but I want to use the 39mm lens hoods. Thanks!!

david strachan Posted May 24, 2023 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2023 There are numerous listed if you just "Google"...
pgk Posted May 24, 2023 Share #3 Posted May 24, 2023 Firstly the designations 85 and 85B are, I think Wratten (Kodak) and you may not find a Leica (Leitz) filter designated as such, if that is, Leica ever made conversion filters. But a search shows that Tiffen certainly made them. Your problem might well be finding them advertised because demand and value should both now be low and many dealers may not bother to list them. Pyrogallol Posted May 24, 2023 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2023 If you can’t find one just use a larger size and hold it in front of the lens. I generally keep a large orange filter in my bags so I can use them with any size lens if necessary.
darylgo Posted May 24, 2023 Share #5 Posted May 24, 2023 Contact the Heliopan representative and ask if they’ll make one for you. I’ve had custom made items years ago from them. Alternatively, call Leica stores, they keep a drawer of accessories from trade ins.

250swb Posted May 24, 2023 Share #8 Posted May 24, 2023 As soon as you go up to 46mm there are a lot available, so I'd use a 46mm with a step-up ring.

This question was also already asked in the forum: Well, times have changed since 2014 and Hoya doesn't make CT filters anymore, let alone 39mm. Michael Geschlecht Posted May 25, 2023 Share #12 Posted May 25, 2023 (edited) Hello Everybody, The number for a Leitz 85A filter in E39 is 13136. Please note that the filter mount is engrave "Leitz" and "A". For a person using a camera that does NOT have a behind the lens meter: This filter requires an exposure compensation of 2/3 of a stop of additional exposure. This is the same as DIN -2 So, If the original film speed was ISO 40/17. The new film speed becomes ISO 25/15. With a camera with a behind the lens meter: Set the film speed as you would with no filter on the camera.
