I currently have the -3.0 diopter on my M11M. I actually need a -4.0 but, Leica produces no such diopter to my knowledge. So my question is:

• Can the diopters be stacked to tune in a prescription?

• Do any 3rd party options exist?

• Are their prescription diopters available?

Sadly diopters aint stackable, 3rd party can be found on ebay, unbranded but replica of original, seems to work oke, not sure if they have -4.0 but sure u can talk to them

the other i probably recommend is walter’s custom viewfinder prescription, have no affiliation but using couple of his golden contrast lenses

@Photoworks I went ahead and ordered one. He had a -3.5, which I think would be spot on as the OVF is already corrected by -0.5 from the factory on the M11. It would be nice if there were adjustable options. But it’s good to know that there are at least a couple options out there.

@jakontil the Walter Leica ones seen a bit too stylized for my taste. I’m looking for something as close to stock as possible. But still nice to have the option honestly.

Thank for the responses. I’m certain others will benefit from this information also.

The minus .5 built-in diopter is to accommodate the 2m virtual distance of the VF markings.  I find that the best way to determine optimal diopter strength, if dealer product is not readily available, is to bring my M to a local optician and try out the free trial diopters.

If all else fails you can always use glasses that are about 0.5 to 1.0 less than what you use in normal life. I can use some old reading glasses on my standard M9 (with the glasses I can see at 2m perfectly, but can not read at closer distance anymore)
