We came very close to loosing this building. Now that Google has purchased it from the State of Illinois, it will receive the deferred maintenance that it greatly needs. Hopefully when they repurpose it for their use, they will permit the magnificent atrium to remain open the public.

The frustration is that Chicago's "laissez faire" attitude towards landmark buildings continues despite knowing what has already been lost. Would London, Paris or Rome behave this way? If you want to be a 1st class city you have to behave appropriately and not throw away your heritage.
