I have bought an S 007 with 24, 35, 70, 100, and 120macro to do some landscape photography. I was used to use ND grad with FF cameras in the past but I am wondering which filter system might work for the S system. I would like to read what you guys are using (or not)

Pierre68,  When I used the S system for my business I found the most color neutral filters are made by Breakthrough Photography.  These are excellent filters for the S system live up to the claims of being the most color neutral.  I use them on the SL system lenses as well.  Try the link below to read more.  r/ Mark

Are you looking for recommendations of particular brands or just types of filters? I have and use polarizing filters, a rectangular ND grad, and a solid ND filter (I forget the factor, I rarely use it anymore). Some people like to buy the largest diameter filters they will need and use reducing rings to adapt to the smaller sizes. I try to keep post-production on my images to minimal or none.

I am looking for some advice on which filter brand offers ND grad that will work with le lens I have, specially with the Leica Super-Elmar-S 24mm f/3.5 ASPH as not a lot of brand offer adapter ring for 95mm filters thread.

I use a Cokin 150mm holder with a 95mm insert. That goes with the Singh-Ray Galen Rowen 150mm ND Grad filter.  Note that I do not have the 24mm lens, so I cannot testify to vignetting with that particular set-up. Maybe you could find a nearby camera store (rare these days) that stocks Cokin and see if you can go try it out.

Nisi 100mm filter system support 86mm 24mm S without vignette. I bought that set but didn’t use them much. That was the only option I found work a few years ago.

The Leica Super-Elmar-S 24mm f/3.5 ASPH has a 95mm filter thread, not 86.

I use the Lee 100mm filter holder, pushed on the outside diameter of the 24. I place beads of silicone on the inside diameter of the filter holder, which grips the lens. However, I seldom use filters with this; usually a 6, 10 or 15-stop ND.

Many years ago I called and visited Lee Filters in Burbank, California.  They can offer solutions for holders, filters etc. They’re near Hollywood for the movie industry where 95mm for cinema is quite common.

My typo.  Yes, Nisi provides 95mm filter ring with their 100mm system. I have it and tested it and it works without any vignette for one square ND filter. That is all I need for ultra wide. I don’t like CPL for anything wider than 35mm.

Hopefully @Vieri will chime in and give us some insight as I read his article on filter holders but it seems that there are few filter holders that will fit a 95mm filter thread as in the Leica 24mm Super-Elmar-S.... Maybe he has a solution

That was my solution as well, back in the day. Nowadays, NiSi offers a 95mm adapter ring for their Vxx system, which would be a better solution. Of course, if one doesn't need Grad NDs, the magnetic / round route is also possible.

Best regards,

Vieri

Shooting on the coast I can have 10 stops or more between sand and sky. I use 2-3 stop neutral density grads bothe soft and hard with great results.  I also use 4-6 stop solid ND filters to use slower shutter speeds.

the use of filters depends greatly on the type of photography you practice and the type of light.
