I have several M cameras, a 400mm Telyt with LTM thread, and an OUBIO which is for connecting LTM to M-bayonet.

My problem is that I cannot connect the adapter's M-bayonet to my M-camera because its foot  fouls the base of the camera.

There is a lever/button on the side of the adapter which lets one rotate the bayonet part relative to the foot of the adapter, but not enough to stop the foot hitting the base of the camera.

What is the work-around?

While it does have an M-bayonet, the OUBIO is intended for mounting a screwmount Telyt lens on a M-mount Visoflex reflex housing, not directly on the camera. Aside from the difficulties in focusing, the spacing would not be correct.  You also can't focus a screwmount long-focus lens like the Telyt on a screwmount Barnack without the reflex housing in between.

If you have a sony mirrorless camera, there is an adapter available that creates the same spacing as the Visoflex housing, so you can attach a lens plus OUBIO adapter to your modern digital camera.

Leica is the Lord of the Rings.  If you have an M body with live view, Camera + 14024 Intermediate Collar + LTM Visoflex lens will work.  The Intermediate Collar is a 63.5mm extension tube that replaces both the PLOOT / Visoflex I reflex housing or the Visoflex II & III reflex housings with OUBIO.  14024 is easy to find.

There is another combination that will work for an M body with live view, Camera + 543195 Intermediate Collar from medical catalog + OUBIO + LTM Visoflex lens.  543195 is harder to find.

...Adapter for R-lenses to M, you could use the 14127 or 14167-Adpater for Visoflex-lenses to R + OUBIO for using the 200mm Telyt without Visoflex body. This connection is not lighter than the Visoflex housing, but you can use the OUBIO's device for changing from landscape to portrait mode on a tripod very handily (the R-to-M-adapter does not have this device). It also works well with the 1:2.5/125mm Hektor.

Though I believe that a Visoflex-housing without the prism finder,  the mirror fixed and the release lever unscrewed (you can screw it back easily) is the most useful solution for M-cameras with liveview even if it does not look very pleasant.

If you look at any of the old charts of Leica lens/adapter combinations, you'll see that the OUBIO isn't or attaching directly to an M body, but to the Visoflex, which then connects to the M body. As others mentioned, there are a variety of tubes which can replace the Visoflex. I've done that for my Sony body.

My choice : the Novoflex LEM/VIS - not Leica gear but modern, well done, pretty functional for your goal (it has the length of a Viso II - perfect for M mount lenses - good for the screw mount Telyts adding exactly the OUBIO)

Btw, an OUBIO-like without the tripod mount was also made by Leitz : much less easy to find than the classic OUBIO, though.

Luigi, are you referring to 16476 / 98310, the 21.5mm extension tube made by Leitz NY?  It was made briefly before OUBIO became available.  16476 / 98310 also requires a LTM to LBM adapter.  Or am I missing a different Leitz ring?

Yes, or better to say, it's quite probable I saw that item... with the LTM/LBM adapter mounted : I have no docs, but simply remember clearly that some years ago I saw for sale an adapter described for usage of LTM Telyts on VISO II/III... from the picture it looked like an OUBIO (black central ring) but without the tripod mount... unluckily I did not recorded it, but remember distinctly that thought "... so they did an OUBIO like this !" (it was clearly original, not some odd 3rd party) ; I did not take care very much... and it could well be that it had an adapter fit onto.

Uh...no, definitely, the item that I have seen (and am sure of) wasn't this one.. it resembled in everything an OUBIO, apart the tripod mount... now I'll start to chase... 🤔
