Borna Posted April 17, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 17, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi friends! Not sure if you have noticed yet but in Europe/Sweden there has been a price hike of 650-800 euro on M-P and M-A cameras. In Sweden it went from 56k to 64k which is a 15% raise. As a digital shooter I do not mind but I was thinking that it would be fun with a film M once. Perhaps I have to take a look at the M2 and M4/P for the future, but these are getting expensive as well Edited April 17, 2023 by Borna

Jewl Posted April 18, 2023 Share #2 Posted April 18, 2023 Yes, in Germany the prices have risen from initially 5050 EUR (MP & M6) to 5450 (M6) and 5550 (MP) which is quite hefty...
LocalHero1953 Posted April 18, 2023 Share #3 Posted April 18, 2023 (edited) UK official prices are 10% up on what I paid for my MP at Red Dot in December. I see Red Dot has chrome MPs still at the old price though. Just saying...... Edited April 18, 2023 by LocalHero1953
69xchange Posted April 18, 2023 Share #4 Posted April 18, 2023 Prices have been the same price here in US/Canada. Incoming price hike for NA?
wattsy Posted April 18, 2023 Share #5 Posted April 18, 2023 I think once you get in the £4.5-5K range, an increase of £400 or so every now becomes lost within the overall sticker price. A lot easier I guess for luxury goods manufacturers like Leica to ride out inflationary times than companies selling something in a more competitive market. 4

TheBestSLIsALeicaflex Posted April 20, 2023 Share #8 Posted April 20, 2023 Thought $2.5K US was expensive for a "new" MP back in 2003. Ha, ha, sold it ten years later for about the same amount. Guess this will drag the prices of all used equipment up too. Better hold onto my M2's as an inflation hedge.
localonthe8s Posted April 21, 2023 Share #9 Posted April 21, 2023 thats about 4200 today, these cameras were about 4800 in 2015 iirc
JMajor Posted April 21, 2023 Share #10 Posted April 21, 2023 In Prague, the price has increased by approximately 7% since the beginning of April, so we can expect another wave of price increases.
andrew01 Posted April 22, 2023 Share #11 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) I bought a brand new M6TTL for AUD$3500 in 2003 (US$2275 at the exchange rate of the day). It was discounted from its full retail price of $5000 because expensive film cameras were on the way out in those days. People spending that much were buying DSLRs. Al Brown Posted April 22, 2023 Share #12 Posted April 22, 2023 I was testing a brand new M11M currently priced at 9.450 euros (making it the most expensive regular edition M Leica to date) and the Leica Boutique guy said "we are still good, we are still under 10K". simonvanw Posted April 23, 2023 Share #13 Posted April 23, 2023 I saw the same when I was browsing the Australian Leica Store and saw that increased by about 12%? I am glad I picked mine in December last year.

Using an inflation calculator, it puts it at almost $10,000 today.

If you want to "stand still" on prices you have to sell more than you bought for...due to Leica's price rises and erosion of your currency against others and particularly inflation. ... I should’ve put “in Europe” again *sigh* it’s where they come from, it’s where they are adjusted to the price & the volatility of the dollar. Not really, considering I got 10 yers of use out of the camera. Bought new, sold with the wear of hundreds of rolls of film. So definitely came out ahead.
