Very fishy, new user of ebay since April 6, first item to be sold... I would not want to touch it unless I could fetch it in person.

That was first thought, too. I looked to see if one could pick it up in person. Anyway, there are some sharply lowered prices on used M10Ms on eBay like this one https://www.ebay.de/itm/275474370157?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=707-53477-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&customid=EAIaIQobChMI0p6LlPiz_gIVVcDVCh174gYrEAQYHSABEgIyyPD_BwE It’s such an excellent camera in lowlight because of very clean pushed shadows noise up to ISO 12500.

If interesting, get serial number and check it against stolen M246.

Sometime ago I asked this forum if anyone had any interest in a Mono CL. No one did (other than me) . I wonder if Leica were to repent and bring back the CL if a Mono wouldn't be welcome. It would be a much nicer camera than the Pentax.

It's been years since I sold all my Pentax gear so, no, I'm not interested in a new Pentax K mount DSLR. But it looks to be a good camera and I certainly hope they do well with it.

Saw a nice video from a Ricoh GR brand ambassador who tried the Pentax mono. Mono sensors are not good at highlight recovery. When you expose for the highlights, the images are very underexposed which is no problem because the shadow recovery in postprocessing is really good. But it makes the EVF or camera screen less useful. The opinion of this guy was, that a mono sensor goes best with an optical viewfinder and he can't think of a GR with mono sensor.

Newest mirrorless from Canon or Nikon let you choose : optical viewfinder simulation. EVF will not show the correct exposure.
Very handy for flash photography and for B&W with highlights protection.

Technical review about K3 mark III Monochrome is non existent for now.
I am wondering if its CMOS BSI APS-C 25.7MP sensor can beat Leica M Monochrom typ 246 CMOS 24MP sensor ? DR and high ISO wise.

After all K3 III mono is just a cut down version (1.53x crop) of M11 60MP sensor. It may perform well against older Monochrom from Wetzlar.

My guess is the FF sensor in the MM 246 will still do better than the K3 III. ISO 3200 pushed one stop still Ok with the Mono 246, ISO 6400 if exposure is nailed also Ok. ISO 12800 is no good. I still have to see an APS-C sensor that does well in terms of DR and noise at ISO above 3200…but B&W sensor, maybe.

That's a mislabeled regular M10. But I agree, there are some lower prices on M10M's now. I still mostly see them around 5800-6000 USD though. Not cheap, but cheaper than a few weeks ago.

Just google it and you can see who you like. Or look on tube since there are plenty there too. If you need convincing to get a monochrome is might not be for you.

Not very helpful.
reviews are very scarce.
If you have a relevant one for me. Thanks in advance.

By the way I am totally convinced by Monochrome. I use to own the original M Monochrom.

I just want to know if there is a benefit to go to APS-C Monochrome sensor vs colour full frame.

For example Lumix S5 mark II with Lumix S lenses are the exact same price as Pentax K3 mark III with similar optics.

In favour of Panasonic : slightly smaller and lighter body and lenses. The benefit of mirrorless is very obvious. Full frame mirrorless = APS-C DSLR.
So does K3 III Monochrom worth it ? Especially against older used M Monochrom or newer colour full frame ?

Worst a Q2 monochrom is really price competitive against a K3 III Mono with a nice lens such as HD DA* 16-50mm f/2.8

Leica Q2 Monochrom : Full Frame 47 MP FSI B&W only with Summilux-Q 28mm f/1,7 = 5700€ VAT inc.

Pentax K3 III Monochrome : APS-C 26 MP BSI B&W only + HD DA* 11-28mm DC F2.8 AW + HD DA* 16-50mm PLM F2.8 AW + HD DA 55-300mm PLM F4.5-6.3 WR RE = 5700€ VAT inc.

Lumix S5 II : Full frame 24MP BSI colour + S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 + S 18mm F1.8 + S 35mm F1.8 +  S 85mm F1.8 + S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 = 5778€ VAT inc.

What’s the best value for 5700€ ?
1 fixed lens for Full frame Q2 Mono
3 zoom lenses for APS-C DSLR K3 III Mono.
2 zoom & 3 prime lenses for Full frame mirrorless S5 II

Lumix S line up is really cheap. Pentax is really expansive.

S5 II is an excellent video camera.
K3 III is subpar for video.
Q2 is so-so video wise.

Hence my question can K3 III Monochrom produce better B&W photos than converted S5 II or even Pentax own Full frame K1 II 36MP ?

with some high iso, and also comparison shots

Ok I watched both videos with subtitles auto translation.

First one it totally useless. The guy did not even has the K3 III Monochrome in hands. It is pure speculation

The second one is better, however, he did not bother taking its own test photos. It just took fro granted the photos from Pentax marketing materials. So not very useful.
So far only one Italian YouTube video review is worthy of watching… Pentax can do better to get a better coverage of this new Monochrome camera.

Nice TIFF files to download.
It convinced me to order one.
I’ll received the K3 III monochrome in 10 days.

Pentax is playing tricks with me.
My last Monochrome only camera was the M Monochrom original exchanged 7 years ago due to sensor corrosion.
My last DSLR was Nikon D90 14 years ago ! I was a mirrorless early adopter.
It feels like a return to the past. K3 III feels old school in a good way. Handling is great. Viewfinder is bright and huge. It will be my first ever Pentax.
Just like GR IIIx convinced me to buy my first Ricoh ever.

Number 3 is a lucky number for Ricoh Pentax.
