This allows creatives the opportunity to crop to the focal length s of 28, 35, 50, 75 mm, and now also 90 mm.

I doubt it.. but wouldn't it be nice if you could zoom in on the crop boundaries, instead of trying to compose the tiniest of rectangle.

Also a pity that they didn’t update the lens. I’m not a fan of the stretched and cropped 24mm into the shape of a 28mm.

They could drop the speed to 2.0 as high iso is totally good enough and maybe make the whole package a bit more compact…

I wish Leica could also add LPC to Q2. I wonder what LDR is.

+1

Even if we have to pay for the upgrade. A couple? Of years ago Leica asked users if they would find it useful and how much they value it… not heard since.

Maybe there is still hope?

This is exactly my opinion, too!

I have chosen to be optimistic about dealer stocks for next week and all my SL batteries are queuing up for a charge. I had not used my SL for 18 months and the battery was completely flat and it had lost the date and time. 2 or 3 minutes outside with a fresh battery and it had a satellite fix and received the correct time. This system works so well that it is disappointing that Leica chose to dump it for the flaky geotagging via Fotos. It cannot be a space issue as the Apple Watch also has GPS which must be tiny.

I’ll try to get in touch with Red Dot Cameras and Aperture - places I’ve bought my Leica products from in the past. The only dilemma I have is if it’s better to try to sell M240 and 28/2 ASPH on eBay or try to get a trade-in offer - never tried it before.

The only time in recent years I got a good trade in offer was for a 35 ASPH Summicron against a 35 APO from Park Cameras in Burgess Hill. But then got messed about with by Leica UK for close to 6 months, when they decided, without telling dealers, that any stock of the 35 APO they got in, would only be sold direct from Leica Mayfair. A lens was actually ready to be packed up for Park Cameras and they had received the dispatch advice from Leica, when it got sold over the counter to a walk in at Mayfair. Park Cameras were angry; as I had already paid in full less the trade in, I was steaming. I could not even go back to the 35 ASPH as Park Cameras had already sold it.

Thank you for sharing this, I’ll try eBay then at first.

Super: the battery compatibility (Q1/2; SL1/2/2S): A more powerful battery while maintaining the previous dimensions - I had already suggested this a few years ago in conversation with the SL product manager. At that time, they gave me little hope...

Disappointing: no optical recalculation despite 60MP (for this you would have liked to have gone to 2.0)! No IBIS (would not, as with OIS, affect optical performance)!

You may want to check out mpb.com too.  They beat trade in offers on my Q2 from Wes, Park and LCE plus some others.  Seamless selling process without the hassle of eBay.  (Just sold another camera on eBay, delivered it express as a bonus, perfect camera, then the buyer "changed her mind, can I be a pain and send it back...")

For high value items eBay just isn't worth the hassle sometimes

"Wireless charging is also now possible with the new Leica Charging Pad and separate camera handgrip. This stylish charging pad and many other Qi-compatible devices conveniently recharges the new powerful BC-SCL6 battery of the Q3."

Ok, so basically when travelling I can leave the Leica battery charger at home and bring with me only a wireless charger for both my smartphone and the Q3. This is a handy little feature to have.

but you also need the new handgrip - much more sense makes direct charging via USB-c

I find MPB offer insulting low prices. The best reliable prices I have found from Leica itself. Then they sell everything in Leica Classic Store

What a bummer. I definitely don't need / want that chunky grip.

Except for 10s shots with the phone, I guess I will never do video: can’t imagine myself editing the things I film. Rather spend my time on photos.

That said, I am not bothered with video on a camera as long as it doesn’t have its own buttons.

Strangely I’m not bothered by stills and video in a camera… so long as neither has their own buttons. I prefer cameras that are activated much like the Hellraisers puzzle box.
