With viewfinder the Sony is equal in size to the Leica Q it has an EVF, which is retractable, quite genius engineering. ianforber Posted May 11, 2023 Share #345 Posted May 11, 2023 I doubt I’ll be able to afford to upgrade to a Q3 with a tilting rear screen but it is a feature I voted for. I found it very useful on my Olympus 5mk11 when mounted on a tripod at waist level and when taking shots at ground level.

Have you ever used the EVF on a Sony RX style camera? Although I agree the engineering is quite nice, if you intend to take pics with the EVF 95% and the rear screen 5% of the time this design has too many compromises imho. I had this style EVF on one of the RX100 and found the EVF quirky at best. The RX1RII is a nice camera. Shame Sony never updated it. I would buy one over the Q3 just for the 35/2 Zeiss lens and the smaller overall footprint to replace my GRIII. The Q3 is more of an addition to my R5 and lenses. FrozenInTime Posted May 11, 2023 Share #355 Posted May 11, 2023 Nice touch having the buttons to pass actions through the thumb grip. I wonder if the Q3 will gain true back button single-shot AF.

An unnecessary luxury And most probably making the handgrip very expensive - except there are two versions. But good to see that more and more pictures of accessories are popping up. Means it should really come in May. Curious about the new VF. The flippy-screen is in my opinion generally a positive thing. That it is protruding so much is especially for left-eye shooter, like me, not so great. For big-nosed eve less I also like that Leica, beside the screen, has not changed to much on the design. And the lens is for sure good enough for the new sensor - so there was really no need of a big update. Maybe a bit different coating on the back lens to get rid of the very seldom phenomenon of the checked reflections in backlit (assumingly of the sensor on the last lens) - but that's just a nice to have, at least for me.

I will stick with the CL + Q2 as they more than cover my needs and see little gain from a Q3 and no value at all in an SL2. And unless the SL3 and lenses have lost a third or their weight and size there's no point going there. Edited May 11, 2023 by Le Chef
